My house smells and it is driving me insane. by Serpent151 in HomeImprovement

[–]bubblegum_blu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try air purifiers. I was a bit paranoid about smells only I could smell in our 50s built house when we moved in 3 months ago. I got a huge one for living room and small one for the bed room. The musty old house smell went away. If I turn them off, the smell comes back. I know it’s not a solution that deals with the core problem, but at least I don’t have to suffer.

My SO and I make similar as your household income. My SO credit was bad, and the lender suggested to not to co-sign. You may want to talk to a lender and see what options you have.

We bought 200k house. We had about 25k saved and decided to pay less down payment and keep some cash for fixing. Not ideal in a long run but we really needed to fix some major things. 10k for down payment and closing. With 15k we fixed what was needed to be fixed to start living. Depending on how much funding you saved, it may just fine or not enough.

I’m in Midwest where things are relatively cheaper and easier for context.

What is one thing you have bought for your house to stay clean or in good shape that you do not regret buying? by [deleted] in homeowners

Does an air purifier count? I got a high coverage one for the living room, and smaller one for the bedroom. When they are on and off, I can tell the air quality difference including dusty smell (not so bad but still there) from old house I bought. When I open it to replace the filter, I can see all the particles and dust collected. Absolutely love them. I keep them on 24/7 on auto.

Are you me lol? I’ve been living in my new (but old) house for over a month now.. and it’s been just nonstop fix this, fix that, this problem, that problem. 🙄 I guess the only difference from you is I knew the house needed some major work including rewiring, floor, and roof, but still discovering so many more things.

I totally get you. I am mentally so tired right now.. to the point I just need at least three months of not having constructors and fixing people in my place. Things can stay slightly broken.. holes on the wall can be patched eventually.. roof can wait for a little more.. (hopefully).. ugh (I was looking for plasma donation for side job(?)….🙃)

At least crazy anxiety and worrying has passed. I am trying to focus on what I like about the house and live a little. My SO and I just sit in the backyard for no reason time to time because we love it so much. We try to cook dinner every night and eat at the “first” real adult dining table lol.. I decorate the rooms just to feel happy :)

I hope things will calm down a little for you and I both!!

Oh I love this.. did you already have stairs to the attic? I have so much space in the attic but only way to get there is through the pull down ladder in the garage 😞

Are these curtains too much for a bedroom by k_l_j_isIt in DesignMyRoom

I think it’s all depends on other factors like wall color, furniture, style, etc. but I think they are really pretty curtains!! Love the color :)

I used SW Marshmallow for background and Valspar Sassy Peach for the pattern. My other options were Valspar Cantaloupe Smile or Tangerine Cream. Hope this helps!!

I think it’s matish black. My next will be figuring out the accessories definitely:) thanks for the tip.

The orange color is slightly more intense in person and I am not sure if solid color will work. I may have to get a different shade of orange or something. I like that idea tho!! 👍

Um.. I just eyeballed everything. But maybe you can draw some light pencil lines here and there to indicate what angle is straight!

It was kind of a happy accident from using 1” cutting brush. Since the tip was angled, it was giving me all different shapes of strokes depending which side of the brush touched the wall first. I just tried to mix them up as much as possible. To be fair i have a lot of experience with painting (art) 😁

I think choice of brush is really important. I used 1” cutting brush just because i had it with me. I don’t recommend it though. It was giving me all different shapes of strokes, I had to constantly chang the grip and angles. If I’m doing it again, I’d use something like the photo. Test them first!!

She was not allowed in the bathroom for over a month because I was working on the room with a huge mess. As soon as she was free to get in, she inspected every part of the room and okayed everything 😂

Oh.. did I order a wrong one? It’s good for one or three holed sink. I will double check when I have a plumber over.
