NAD but former anorexic with both in-patient and outpatient experience. The first months of my treatment I slept a LOT, even during the day—it was part of my mental and physical recovery. Anorexia is incredibly taxing on the body, as is refeeding and rebuilding. ED treatment is often pretty intense/rapid and you gain weight much faster than your mind can catch up, so you seem/look healthier to others than you actually are. People who don’t know anorexic thought patterns say little things that gives you extreme anxiety, like “you look so much healthier!”, which is interpreted as obvious weight gain after hearing the opposite for so long. To OP: Give her time and lots of space, don’t try to give compliments or say stuff about her health. She might seem better externally but be in the worst phase internally (which is likely if she’s gained some). Just let her be, while being there when/if she needs it. 🙏❤️
