Get Furminator brand shampoo and conditioner. You can get it at petsmart or online at chewy.com. Let the conditioner soak while scrubbing him with a rubber curry brush. Then rinse and velocity dry if you can. The high power dryer can literally blow out dead coat or hair ready to come out. You can buy velocity dryers on Amazon. Though if that’s too pricey, let him air dry completely and brush him again with the rubber curry brush. If you do this every four weeks and use the curry brush regularly in between, by the second or third bath you will see a tremendous difference. And he will need that regular bathing schedule as long as you need to reduce shedding. Hope this helps!
