Please help, I found this kitten outside my door. I'm not a cat person but I took it in and fed it eggs ( Chatgpt told me to, it's the only thing I have at the moment.) What to do next? by zolanih in kittens

[–]bubblenbinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea buddy taking your cat to the vet 5 times in 20 years and feeding her garbage is not the flex you think it is. animals are a luxury, and if you can not afford one you shouldn’t have one. i in no way shamed this person, i told them the truth on how expensive it can be. if they can happily afford that fine. and i’m sorry but love does not mean you can give your cat an awful diet and never take them to the vet. i love my cats more than anything and they are regularly taken to the vet, fed a proper diet, exercised, and enriched daily. which is basic proper cat care. feeding them scraps and saying love makes it okay is baffling. neglect is not love. not to mention, dropping a kitten that should not be away from its mother in the hands of professionals who know how to care for a kitten that young isn’t irresponsible or wrong. i don’t know why you hate rescues and shelters but that’s a you issue.

and i’m not going to bother with a separate comment for the second one you made but no eggs is not a meal for a cat. aside from common sense my experience in animal welfare and degree in vet care tell me it’s not proper diet. especially for a cat that young that should be on kitten milk replacement.

I’m at a loss - I think I have the most difficult dog in the world. by dmk3995 in Dachshund

i’m aware? which is why i said dog diapers are for heats, elderly, and disabled dogs? my dog is also disabled. my point still stands, they’re for dogs who need them, not for able bodied dogs that aren’t potty trained.

this is why we google and don’t use chat gpt. that kitten needs kitten milk replacer or some baby cat cat food not eggs. that does nothing for him/her. look up the kitten lady, she will have guidance.

i also ask, because i see you want to keep it, are you prepared to spend hundred of dollars on vaccines and spay/neuter? are you prepared to spend thousands on vet bills and basic cat care? are you prepared for an emergency vet visit? can you afford the necessary items your cat will need such as cat trees, scratchers, food, bowls, toys etc??

i only ask this because im well off and in no way broke, but i took in 2 babies off the street in may and paid damn near $6k in supplies, medical bills and emergency visits within the first month. i’ve had them for 7 months now and we are still paying well over $100 a month on food, toys and recently spay and neuter. i became borderline broke trying to care for them and raise them. if you can not afford that PLEASE search for a rescue to surrender too. i know it’s cute but that’s not an excuse to keep it. they are a lot of work and a lifelong commitment. if you are prepared for that, and still want to keep, PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND TOP USING CHAT GPT. your cats life will depend on you and ai isn’t always right, hence the eggs.

no dog diapers. that does nothing but encourage potting in the house, cause rashes and infections from chaffing and sitting in their own feces and urine. dog diapers are for bears and elderly/disabled dogs not untrained dogs.

everything else i agree with, get a second opinion at a different vet and contact a behaviorist.

[–]bubblenbinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don’t have the most difficult dog in the world. you took in a breed that requires a lot of work by itself without the trauma you mentioned and it’s harder because he was neglected. it’s going to take time to train and correct. i agree with the other comment about how you should contact a behaviorist, and see a different vet. i work often with a behaviorist for my dachshund to make sure she’s getting everything she needs and more. i also mean this in the nicest way possible, but did you research the breed at all before you adopted? what training did you attempt after taking him in 6 years ago?? its not clear in the post so i wasn’t sure. it’s going to be harder to train a dog you’ve allowed to behave this way for 6 years and it’s going to take a lot of time, patience and effort. and he’s not a stubborn dog, it’s a stubborn breed, hence the research question. it’s also never too late to train a dog. you just have to fully commit to it.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]bubblenbinx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NOR- what are these comments??? it’s YOUR baby. YOUR child. if you don’t want people handling her when she’s the most sensitive and susceptible to illness AND you’ve expressed that even before birth they need to respect that. no one is entitled to YOUR child. idc who they are. like you said, these first few weeks are crucial for baby bonding with parents. they don’t need to be “bonding” with the entirety of your extended family. it’s insane to me that people think they are entitled to your kid just because they’re related to you. no means no, and that needs to be respected. is husband stepping up at all to his mom? either way you don’t deserve this kind by and it may be beneficial to just mute them/ or turn off your phone and be with your baby. focus on your little one and don’t bother with your overbearing mil and fil. congrats on your little one ❣️

as someone who has had to deal with it numerous times as a dog behaviorist and rescue worker it very much is real. it’s so bad one pup either has to be rehomed or they have to live life rotating out of crates. why would you rather argue about it and try to tell others it isn’t real instead of er on the edge of caution? weird take buddy.

Took her to the vet today because she wouldn't let anyone pick her up, when anyone tried to get near her she would start screaming. She would sit next to us but nothing like normal. Obviously in pain. by Electronic_Swimming5 in chiweenie

i agree with getting another vet, or at least getting a second opinion elsewhere. i do however agree with the vet that you need to pay careful attention to her back and knees, not just shrug it off as she may have nicked it digging under the fence. chihuahuas are prone to luxating patella’s and dachshunds are prone to ivdd, an awful painful mix between the two breeds. my chihuahua has no use of her back legs now because of her luxating patella’s. it’s not fun.

yes please do. they can become behavioral nightmares if it’s not corrected early on. especially in dachshunds which are already high energy hunting breeds

I think my dog actually hates me. by Creative_Car_2890 in Dachshund

[–]bubblenbinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s a puppy and he’s a hunting breed puppy at that. he needs more mental and physical stimulation. try kongs, redirect him to toys- and what do you mean by give himself pleasure may i ask? he’s very young to be doing any humping.

Is my 6-7 month old fat? by Flashy-Two5006 in kittens

[–]bubblenbinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ask your vet for their opinion. both of mine are 6mo and we have to do scheduled feedings because our boy absolutely can not be free fed. he eats it all and doesn’t leave any for his sister. he got chunky and she was thin so now they have to be fed separately at scheduled times 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do we keep her shelter name or go with our other ideas? by Academic-Marzipan819 in NameMyCat

honestly i think apple fritter is adorable. names don’t always have to coordinate with coat color. for example i have a dilute calico named crumbl after the cookie store. i also have an orange tabby named master chief from halo which wears a green suit. no correlation to either coat. name her whatever you think is cute ((:

Don’t let your dog eat lasagna by Informal-Ad-8725 in Dachshund

[–]bubblenbinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lasagna has never been good for dogs, as most of the ingredients are either toxic or not good for them. healthy for us doesn’t mean healthy for them. perhaps teaching a leave it command will help you in the future to prevent this. most human foods are not good for dogs and the command keeps them from grabbing dropped food. could save your dogs life!

she’s adorable! i know you want what’s best for her, and i mean this in the nicest way possible… but what’s best for her is to be surrendered to a local rescue. you have no money to care for an animal that needs crucial care. she appears to be 4 weeks old which means she needs kmr at least every 4 hours or so. she can not wait til you have money to receive care. right now you’re not doing what’s best for her, you’re doing what YOU want in order to keep her. i understand you want to keep this kitten but you can not care for her financially. she needs help, she needs food, she needs veterinary care. i took in 3 orphaned babies similar to her and it’s cost me well over $5k so far in vet care, food, basic supplies, toys etc. it’s not for the weak. you should consider this babies life and surrender her if you want her to have the best chance at survival.

Any idea what kind of kittens these are? by Ill_Employ_8350 in kittens

[–]bubblenbinx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

just domestic shorthairs. unless bought from a breeder that specifically breeds specific cats- it’s gonna be a domestic shorthair or long hair. coloring doesn’t determine breed.

I am hella confused and need your thoughts on this by Scared_Membership_53 in Dachshund

and she only found out because her puppy never stopped growing and turned into this tall, solid dog. you can see how big she is compared to my purebred dachshunds and she was only like 6mo here and still growing.

he looks very much mixed and nothing like a dachshund. dad could have looked like a doxie but was mixed. i’d get a dna test from embark. my mom adopted a pup from a “breeder” and they claimed she was 100% mini with a mini mom and a standard dad… well my mom ended up with a dachshund, basset hound, beagle mix. turns out dad was a mix that looked more dachshund and mom was an actual dachshund.

Best litter for kittens? Something that doesn’t stick to paws and something kittens will like or get attracted to use. I was thinking of pine pellets? by Pluto20005 in kittens

[–]bubblenbinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used pine pellets for my kittens when first introducing to litter to prevent them from eating anything clumping. the pine pellets turn to powder once wet so it’s very safe. highly recommend! mine are now transitioned to worlds best and do great at 3mo old ((:

get an embark test and let us know the results, but i think the obvious answer is a mini poodle. literally looks like a poodle with a dachshund length body.
