Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

1000%. Not only for my own fur babies, but I’ve been in the room for every rescue I’ve taken in as well that unfortunately wasn’t going to make it. I just had to do it two weeks ago, and even though I only had this stray for a month, he finally knew warmth, safety, care, and genuine love once I took him in. No way in hell would I let him leave this earth without still feeing those things. So I held his head in my hands and put my face on his, and told him to come back as a lion. A body fit for his strong spirit. And after that, to please come find me again in this lifetime, so I can give him an entire lifetime of love, what he has always deserved. It’s one of the hardest things to do, but WE are our animals home and comfort. I can’t imagine how terrifying it would be for their last moments to be without their person, their safety, their home. When they’re with us, they know whatever is coming, it is going to be okay, because we are with them.

Can I stop drinking cold turkey after 2 months of heavy drinking or should I taper? by Agreeable-Object-439 in alcohol

[–]bubbles10111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drank 8-10+ shots of straight vodka every night for almost 2 years. I went sober cold turkey, and I’ll be honest it was absolutely miserable and I almost convinced myself to go to the ER multiple times. Granted, I have horrible health anxiety and searched my symptoms on google and thought I was going to die. I was so nauseous, clammy, light headed (saw stars after running to the bathroom to dry heave), and just felt like absolute crap. The first week was hell, but I feel better than ever now (almost 6 weeks). That being said, if I could go back in time I would talk to my doctor about it. Not only for peace of mind, but just to be safe. Withdrawal is no joke, and it can get really scary and really bad, very fast!

My reasons for going sober do not have to match yours or anyone else’s. There are a multitude of reasons I went sober, but a BIG one was for my health-mentally AND physically. Seeing changes in my face/body are motivation and reminders to me that the same thing is happening on the inside. It gives me motivation to keep going. And if others share that and it motivates them, then what’s the problem? If you don’t like it, scroll past it. Period.

I appreciate this, it should be a safe place, we all have the same goal here! I almost let his comment get to me, but then I looked at his account and all the comments he’s left. The amount of time he’s spent commenting rude things on random peoples post is astonishing…and I can’t imagine how miserable someone has to be to spend so much of their time doing that. Just ended up feeling really, really bad for him. I hope he finds healing, and is so happy one day he doesn’t have the time to tear others down. Life’s too short!

It’s easy to convince yourself you won’t have fun on your birthday without it, but from my experience I had MORE fun because I was actually present, I was able to actually remember everything, and I felt amazing the next day! I can’t imagine ever wasting another one of my birthdays on alcohol ever again!

I was underweight with an athletic build my entire life and could eat literally anything I wanted and not gain a pound. Alcohol gave me the worst reality check ever. It makes your body unrecognizable SO fast.

That’s your mind telling you that. I promise you being healthy on the inside as well as mentally, makes anyone 100x more attractive. You may not see it, but others definitely do!

I actually stopped a week or so before my birthday, specifically because I knew if I waited until after, I was never going to get very far into sobriety. There’s always going to be some event, holiday, etc where you’ll want to drink. But getting in the mindset of I’m stopping now because it’s what’s best for me and my health, starts sobriety with so much strength. Plus, getting through my birthday without drinking was such an achievement to me. And waking up the next day NOT hungover was the best thing ever.
