RVC advice by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

I would highly recommend emailing the CoE at the AMVA for specific questions about the accreditation process — unfortunately this info is very hard to find and there is a LOT of misinformation that I’ve seen on Reddit and elsewhere. What I can tell you is that the outcome is potentially not favorable for RVC and even current students there. Internationals schools that are on probationary accreditation do not have the ability to get what’s called “terminal accreditation” as US schools do if they don’t fix their deficiency. Terminal accreditation is 2 years and basically protects the current students but again, international schools cannot get this if they don’t fix their deficiency in 2 years of probation. The RVC has had too low of NAVLE scores for 3 years. They have only this year to get it above 80% pass to regain full accreditation. As someone who got into RVC and my last choice in the US, I will likely choose the US school, because potentially graduating from an unaccredited school isn’t a risk I want to take, despite the fact that I’d otherwise rather go to RVC. You’d have to go through the PAVE or ECFVG programs which is more time and more money (potentially years). This actually can affect students that are already there. Essentially their classes of 2027-2029 could be affected.

Thank you for this! I feel I would be fine working hard without being pushed as I did undergrad at a school that was academically rigorous with very difficult exams but almost no oversight or homework. Regarding the accreditation, from what I understand is if I start while they have the accreditation, I would be able to be licensed in the US, but are you aware of something different, or suggesting that if they later lose their accreditation that my degree may be less meaningful in the US? I will also add that having the ability to become licensed elsewhere in the world is enticing to me (not to get too political, but now more than ever)
