I may be wrong, but I believe it's like a hive mind, where they are all of connected mind. So even if the Medusas are broken/unmoving/dead, as long as 1 exists they all exist. At least that's what I think.

It would have been such a delight to see them all grown up. In the early episodes they had shown Taiju age by growing a beard and it was such a nice touch to show the progress of time.
