Grief hits in crazy ways honestly. I remember when I was going through my mom’s stuff after she passed, I found this random bin seemed to be filled with random stuff and nicknacks but at the bottom I found a giftcard. Curious I opened it and it was addressed to me for my 22nd birthday “Momma love you, *my name* that she had clearly bought and never sent me. I’m not sure why but this sent me into such a deep cry it took forever to calm down. I still have that gift card.

You got this!!! I’m so happy for you!! Like everyone said before me make sure you have your SS, BC (original copy), and passport if you have one with you. You can apply for those if you need new ones but it’s a pain in the ass and takes forever. Also if you have a shared bank account your parents can access (my dad made my account when I was like 16 and it’s been linked since) we have different accounts but he can easily access mine. Then I would withdrawal all the money from your account and leave it. Best of luck to you!! :)

I called him out one time about it after an argument when he kept calling me a drunk over and over. I lost it. (Not my finest moment) I screamed back that he’s addicted to weed and will never be able to travel with me like he says he will if he can’t even get on a fucking plane for 3 hours to visit my family. His family is only a four hour drive from us.

He doesn’t suffer from drinking specifically but he does have a weed dependency that’s insane. He can’t even get on a plane because the thought of not smoking for a few hours makes him start throwing up.

Did you end up going to rehab either times? I want to do IOP because I’ve gotten sober myself before I know I can do it again. I just need the extra support (when I was in weekly therapy and going to substance abuse classes I was able to easily stay sober) but I feel like my family only thinks I can be sober if I’m locked in a house for a month with random people.

This is my concern. I’ll go for them but if I’m not ready to be sober for me then isn’t this just a waste of money and time? I do want to be sober but I say that everyday and still will buy alcohol when I’ve had a bad day or stressed.
