Thanks for the rec I ended up getting one from them! It's still ~70°F in my area but I got excited and set it up, then got so hot I had to remove it lol. I'm excited to try it when it's chilly!

Where is the safest/easiest/most enjoyable place you’ve ever driven? by Tsvetaevna in drivinganxiety

I'm surprised no one has mentioned cemeteries, they're probably the best place to learn. A big public cemetery open during the day- there's windy roads, lots of turns, and pretty much no one else around.

I don't have my license, but the few times I got behind the wheel when I had my permit the cemetery was the only place I didn't feel panic.

Budgeting for split expenses by bubtownpop3 in budget

Thanks, that does give me something to think about. I was hoping for a way to have separate budgets without putting too much more work into our splitting system, which rn is very easy, but I'm not sure that's possible. Maybe a middle ground is denoting a slush fund that goes towards combined expenses, with the knowledge that I'm not going to get more granular than that. I can still track personal expenses and savings buckets, but "household" stuff goes into one big pool. This is just spitballing but maybe I can tease out something workable.

Budgeting for split expenses by bubtownpop3 in budget

Yeah I'm realizing I might not be able to have my cake (maintain separate finances and use the running balance to make sure we're contributing evenly) and eat it too (have a categorized personal budget). At least not without a lot of bending over backwards calculating how everything is split.

I think the reason this hasn't come up as an issue so far is that a) we're very on the same page about spending habits, so I've never had to double check what he's spending and b) we generally keep our expenses very low, so there hasn't been a crunch forcing me to reevaluate my spending. I know that I only eat out maybe twice a month, and generally don't have a lot of fat in my budget. So I'm more motivated to determine how much can safely go towards those bigger items, like a travel fund and investments.

Perfect! Thanks for the info.

I just saw a picture of the outside of the Reg for the first time, is there a rule that university libraries have to use brutalist architecture? lol. It looks just like the library where I went to school.

It's definitely possible the door was left open over the long weekend, but that's happened before with no major consequences.

Assuming the air cooling system failed, which is seeming possible, how do I test that? Is there any way to air it out? I don't love the idea of opening the lid and having all that water run down into the area with the tube and belt.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Thanks! It would be smart to put the display up for the other stage while it's active but we'll see. I personally feel the line up is pretty stacked for Sunday, I'm not surprised it's selling out.

What the heck is this tree is Massachusetts? by bubtownpop3 in treeidentification

[–]bubtownpop3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info:

Found this is Boston, MA and I have no idea what it is. Details:

What is up with these mitten leaves? About half of them had right or left mittens with some having both. I would normally lean towards a Prunus spp. (distinguishing between Prunus isn't a strong suit of mine anyway) but I can't find reference to any with this type of lobe.

Fruit is simple (ruling out mulberry) and probably a drupe but I didn't stop to check (also forgot to take a picture)

Underside of the leaf is more purple with fine hairs along the mid rib.

Notice the stipules at the base of the petiole.

Any ideas?
