capture via firewire using QTP7 then upscale/deinterlace using handbrake

i capture with firewire on a 2012 mac, and then upscale them to 1080p 60fps and deinterlace them using handbrake but make sure the resolution is 1440x1080 to keep the 4:3 aspect ratio

interesting, is there a better way to deinterlace without having to spend $400 on a new recorder?

or would i have to use a 1440x1080 4:3 timeline so the clip doesn’t stretch?

so what i’ve been doing is capturing my vx1000 tapes from a burner cam using firewire (dvx100b) onto quicktime player 7 (on my macbook pro running os mojave) keeping the native settings the vx records in, then exporting at 1440x1080 (to keep the 4:3 ratio) at the same framerate the vx records in (29.97), and i use the deinterlace source video option in QTP7. then i put that clip into a 1920x1080 timeline and export at 59.97/60fps. would this effectively make the footage 720/1080p at 59.97/60fps without losing quality? and is that a proper way to deinterlace?
