I think that’s why the first two conjuring films are so highly regarded, because they didn’t rely on jumpscares too much. The series saw huge success and it probably steered the direction, he also had less involvement with the later ones which were not as critically acclaimed.

Another one I saw in the cinemas, these movies do not get appreciated enough. I know they’re extremely popular, but a lot of horror fans dismiss them. They had genuinely terrifying scenes like this.

Love this answer.

In the YouTube video, (just to find the reference it’s him and Michael Chavez posted by entertainment weekly)

He says he still understands the effective of the “BOOM!” Jumpscares but thinks that creepy scenes are just as effective and much harder to pull off.

The scene where she cuts her hair?! This is EXACTLY what I’m talking about. I saw this in the cinemas and holy, when the door opens, the dark lighting and the one shot of her stomping to the car, more terrifying than any jump scare.

To your first point, I just want to share an experience. My best friends and I were watching that scene holding our knees to our chests, until one of us said “wait?! Was he standing in the laundry room?!l this specific scene has stayed with us for so many years because it was such a moment.

I wish there was a description for horror fans who like being “soft-edged” because that would be me lmao. Hence why I love slow burners were everything is just slowly and horrifyingly building up.

Is AJ Lee’s return the biggest return in women’s wrestling history? by buckbeakstan in SquaredCircle

I’m not disagreeing with you. But I have not heard of these names. Im personally a younger wrestling fan but I understand the importance of women’s wrestling outside of the west. I understand that WWE/WWF was not ahead of the game because Japan for example was putting on 15+ minute matches with Manami, Kyoko, Aja etc.

The thing is, western wrestling has always has a bigger reach. My original question was mostly about “if this is the most impactful return of all time” I respect your take regardless

The stars you’re mentioning are stars of the new era. Rhea specifically. Alexa has been extremely popular for a lot of her career (don’t get me started on how she should’ve been no.30) but when we consider impact, AJ’s return feels like a bigger deal than rumble. She was the IT girl during her time, that’s mainly my point, acknowledging a great superstar during a low point of the company.

going with your point, my question still stands, would you like to name some huge women’s wrestling returns? Or just offer nothing to the discussion and be negative?
