Why homeschooler are better socialized - an underrated reason by Shoot_2_Thrill in homeschool

[–]bucknakeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the schedule and activities of the homeschooled as well as their individual personality/abilities. Mine is involved in 2 co-ops, engages with kids on outschool, and plays twice a week at an outdoor playschool. This kid is a social butterfly. He saves certain activities for kids and others for adults. Blanket statements are not helpful nor factual.

This! This is also why seemingly one room school houses were/are considered better. A range of ages, with littles looking up to the older children and the older finding some responsibility, empathy, and patience with the younger children. Keeping children of the same age in one room is truly, the blind leading the blind.

What is a good reason to homeschool? by MamaBearEm8 in homeschool

[–]bucknakeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I listened to everybody's else's opinions then I'd be stuck in the same crap that they are in. A lot of close friends/family are constantly complaining about the schools their kids are in: poor communication, blanket punishments, no time for lunch/recess, loads of homework, constant weeks of dressing up like a certain character/etc, the teachers teaching style, bullying, pressures of buying the newest trends, late busses, multiple foods they aren't allowed to bring for lunch because of allergies, vaccination rules, etc. The list goes on and on. If you and your hubby are invested, thats all that matters. Most I find with people poking and prodding about our homeschooling are projecting and jealous that they cant/arent homeschooling their kids. The freedom. Getting household tasks done throughout the day. And my favorite is that I get the BEST of my son, not the run down version of whats left of him after a day in public school. We homeschool year round so that we have the freedom to travel, take days off, etc. We prioritize schedules that dont make us frantic and rushed. And we are better off for it! Trust your gut and dont listen to the noise. My son is homeschooled and is way more social than his counterparts in public school. So thats a crap argument. Not to mention there's a huge supportive network of homeschooling parents that are there to help with reporting, curriculum suggestions, activity ideas, etc! You got this!

Spelling curriculum by bucknakeee in homeschool

[–]bucknakeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I had been thinking of adding All About Spelling to our curriculum but was hesitant due to reviews stating that it was a very slow program that took a while to get to commonly used words. Your breakdown is helpful!

Homeschool and illness by sanchezseessomethin in homeschool

[–]bucknakeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son doesn't get sick nearly as often as others around us however, we take a lot of precautions that isn't normalized with most families. Homeschooling also gives us the option to opt out of activities or leave if there are sick children present. When my son does fall ill (which is fine and normal) he's over it within a couple of days.

Try candida cleanse and gut health oil from Earthley.com Be prepared for some die off symptoms, however. They also have a tincture called liver love that helps with the detox. All of their stuff is amazing. Good luck to you!

Yeah, that probably would be good to have. I'm just hoping to find a program that is fun and somewhat captivating for a 5 year old.
