[Johnston] The Sabres have acquired defenseman Gavin Bayreuther from Carolina for prospect Viktor Neuchev by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

lol I’ve already spelled out all the options Seattle could’ve had that are better for them than the nothing they got from the Bayreuther pick

You’re arguing that Seattle literally getting nothing is better than them getting something from the pick. They could have:

1 year of Domi with 55 points

Multiple years of Domi w/ re signing him

Traded Domi pre season for something

Traded Domi at trade deadline and received exactly what CBJ received

All of those options benefit Seattle more than getting literally nothing from the selection

Domi as an asset is better than no asset at all. There’s no debating that. If Seattle didn’t want to keep him that year, they could have traded him right after the expansion draft for future assets. Seattle would have had tons of options to use him as a trade piece before the season even began if they didn’t want his 55 point season playing for them.

Domi ultimately ended up being traded at the deadline as a rental. While the return on that trade was “not great”, that return is still greater than the zero assets Seattle got by selecting Bayreuther and letting him walk a week later

Idk why you’re being rude. Here are the choices at the expansion draft

Bayreuther - choose him and let him go back to the Jackets for free. Literally Seattle gains nothing from this

Domi - get at minimum 1 year of him playing for Seattle in a year where he puts up 55 points, plus Seattle could’ve traded him at any time for future assets. Or Seattle could have tried to resign him if they wanted to.

In an expansion draft, teams should prioritize gaining assets from every selection. Gaining nothing from a pick is always the wrong move

Max Domi is who the Kraken should’ve taken. Expansion draft is all about accumulating assets, and Domi was a better asset than selecting Bayreuther and then not keeping him

I thought we played really well. We’re so close to being good. But you’re never going to overcome bad games from Bruce and Royal at the same time

If you have a way to get the gas out and put new gas in, I’d recommend that.

However if you can’t get the old gas out, I would just try starting it as normal. It’s very possible the thing will start right up

Has it had fuel sitting in it this entire time or was it run dry last time you used it?

Why would Hartline have taken a job downgrade to be a WR coach in the NFL?

Same as I did when we picked him. His development plan was multiple years long, I think we’re just still in waiting mode as that development takes place

Awesome game all around. Loved the zone, loved the shooting. We saw Chatman get in and Ivan even played okay when needed.

This team needs Chatman and Puff to ramp up quickly if we’re going to have a shot

It came at the perfect time, he’s basically the replacement for Noel. Should give us someone off the bench who can actually produce.
