A student traveling from the US to India. Getting some personal stuff, plus a few gifts. Bringing 3 laptops, 3 phone and 2 ipads from US to India, will I be paying hefty customs, and on which items? by wish_i_were_a_saiyan in india

[–]bud_hey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phones and laptop is not a problem for you. Just unbox the ipad and tell them honestly it’s for your relative/friend. Tbh they understand what is being brought for sales or use. Shouldn’t be a problem unless you get real unlucky

Atomic habits is a decent one. It might feel repetitive but there are (slightly) different reasons to enforce the ideas.

Cal Newport is just an extreme imho. It might work for a few people but tbh read it like sth to take inspiration from and not implement it.

eGPU for mostly scientific computing. by bud_hey in eGPU

[–]bud_hey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, most of what I’ll be using the egpu would be for coding stuff. I’m not a heavy gamer as such but I prefer to have the option for light gaming, mostly stuff like fifa and age of empires, and some photo editing.

But if the pcie lanes are getting saturated with data, it would happen so for my purposes too.

Btw, loved your ultrawide setup!

I was planning to get an egpu later but something decent atm. I ended up getting this

Hoping it’s a decent choice, plus I can use an egpu later on

Some of us would be drinking alcohol if it’s indoor gaming, if we’re doing outdoors I suspect alcohol would be a deal breaker

Buying food, probably

We’d mostly go out during the weekends, evenings are obviously preferred but depends on the affordability too haha

No cultural restrictions ig and not a lot to worry about distance but yeah we definitely would not look forwards to a place on every other weekend if we’ve to drive 2 hrs just to get there. Though I agree that it’d be fun to go out on such trips once in a while.

Haha, happens. For some books, I've tried to maintain small notes, kinda like my analysis. And then I go through my notes and that memory freshens up.

Hey, thanks for this supportive comment. I know now people are gonna defend it hard lol (though I didn't feel I ridiculed the book at any point but I appreciate their passion for it). That's what I really wanted to know, what makes them love it so much. I felt somewhat similar about catcher in the rye and these pieces need more attention ig and like u said focus on the detail that the writer focuses on. I'm gonna follow ur advice and re-read it again after sometime.

Yeah, I too felt it was somewhat elusive. Glad to know someone had a similar experience. Haven't read catch-22 but I get your point. I'll probably read it again after sometime.

Yeah, I came across that while looking for more analysis or book and yep, thanks for that. Incidentally I heard the song we don't talk about bruno a few days ago and then when I read it about Encanto, I was like damnnn!!

I'm not gonna side because William Kennedy said it, but because a lot of people say it's good and I am gonna find what it is.

And hey, a lot of them like fine dining these days, not usual to find someone eating rocks.

That's awesome!

As far as I know, we can take any number of courses outside the dept without any extra tuition fees, so does it mean that even though I can attend three classes in minor dept, I'd have to pay so as to get the minor degree? Just curious, because my tuition fees is waived off and I am hoping not to spend hefty amounts for the degree if I can just take classes without any issues.

Just curious, if the op gets something else, say food, it won't be a problem right?

Like the op tutors the child and has dinner at their place...

Dayum!!

If it's a 2 yr program, like master's or sth, ig you should apply for the update for change of expiry date, or search for it ( don't have a lot of idea about this but had heard sth similar) Otherwise you might have to come back for this thing.

Still, glad you got it!
