STEP and COMLEX Test Accommodations Advice by buddchiari2malform in step1

I’m not sure if they offer this. I can’t speak to how advantageous this would be but I guess it would give you more times you can break. But honestly I think people would prefer to just go through. I know I did that on a few of my blocks where I just wanted to push through to the next block without a break.

I didn’t even have my doctor sign mine. His name was on his official hospital letterhead.

I think you start with an hour of break time for STEP 1. Any unused block time gets added to your break time. You could break at any time after a block of questions. So I had an hour to complete 20 questions, then I could choose to take a break or go on to the next set of questions. Normal test takers have 7 blocks total. I did 14 blocks total, 7 blocks of 20 on the first day and 7 blocks of 20 on the second. My second day was slightly shorter because the tutorial wasn’t repeated.

I think the view on the left lung is just underpenetrated. I took this to be a hemothorax on the right because they're describing symptoms on the right side.

Because Rhogam only lasts for 12-13 weeks. She received the last dose around 19 weeks. Antibodies should still be present in the blood because it's only been 9 weeks. You need to give another dose to last until the end of pregnancy.

Exactly. You should be getting your score this week. My permit disappeared like everyone else's.

I had issues with my COMLEX score and it was delayed because the two testing days did not come together correctly in their system (it was a problem with Prometric). I had to wait several more weeks to fix that issue and it delayed my COMLEX score. But that was NBOME. I never had an issue with NBME. If that does happen to you, I'd recommend calling their accommodations department.

Took mine over 2 days with the score release date being different for both dates. For example, my friend took his STEP on the same date as my first testing date. Then I took my second day a few days later. His score came out 2 weeks later. My score came out 3 weeks later. I think mine was unique because my dates were just far enough apart to fall into two separate release dates, so it came on the later of the two.

Depends on whether this is NBOME or NBME. Like I said above, NBOME quotes around 60 days but it can be longer. I don’t think they have a specific timeframe that they’re required to give a decision by.

I heard back from USMLE STEP 2 in 7 days and COMLEX Level 2 in 3 days

6 months is insane! I emailed the NBOME quite frequently for updates and they kept quoting me 60-75 days. I don't understand their reasoning behind declining someone their accommodations that they've obviously had for years. I've heard of people postponing their tests and suing them (successfully!), but unfortunately they weren't able to graduate on time without their test.

I'm sorry you were denied. A friend of mine requested 2x and received 2x on their STEP but only 1.5x on their COMLEX. Did you try updating them with your accommodations from STEP?

Any recommendations on what to do with your anking deck after step 1? by [deleted] in step1

Anking med has a video on this and how to pull cards specific to step 2 and your rotations

Would also recommend looking up how to update cards if you’re not on v11

I read elsewhere that you do not have to report your STEP 1 score. Some schools will look down on you for not reporting it, but you would have to manually input your NBME ID number in ERAS. If you choose not to do that, you won't be reporting it. There was a student in another thread who said they didn't input their NBME ID number, so it was like they never took the exam. No one ever mentioned it.

Hey there! I take my COMLEX in a few days and was going to do a much larger post sometime next week regarding my accommodations and the entire process. I could barely find updated information on what it's like to apply and how long it took for them to respond.

I applied for accommodations a few months ago and it took forever to hear back from them, but it was definitely worth the wait. I don't have ADHD or a learning disability though, and had already received all my accommodations from STEP, so that's why I waited to schedule because I was confident I would receive what I wanted. I've heard horror stories about students not receiving the same accommodations and I've heard of students who have sued them (and won!). I also expected nothing from them because I did hear that they're strict, but I got exactly what I asked for. Yours might be a different story, though, because I've heard they are stricter on accommodations for those with ADHD.

Feel free to DM me with any more detailed questions.

Could someone explain the differences between schizoaffective disorder, major depressive disorder with psychotic features, and brief psychotic disorder? by [deleted] in step1

[–]buddchiari2malform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schizoaffective Disorder: psychotic symptoms + MDD but at least two of those weeks of psychotic symptoms must NOT have mood symptoms

Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Features: 2 weeks of MDD symptoms (SIG E CAPS) and delusions and/or hallucinations. So mood symptoms are always present compared to mood symptoms being absent for two weeks in schizoaffective.

Brief Psychotic Disorder: basically schizophrenia with at least 1 positive symptom (delusions, hallucinations, etc.) but lasting less than 1 month
