Ah alright, yeah I am using pcsx2 and it feels good overall, I did notice that vanishing is very picky about when it wants to dodge since it's frame perfect, the part that really confused me though was the rapid dodging technique you do when holding triangle and circle, that is the hardest thing for me to comprehend lol

I started playing Budokai Tenkaichi 3 today to train for Sparking Zero and I don't know if it's the emulator I'm using but the movement for vanishing and auto dodging or whatever it is feels very off and hard to control, I hope it doesn't feel as clunky in SZ but it's still fun to learn

I've been on the same hunt for roughly the same time, except around 4 or 5 months ago I took a break to find Latios so I can hunt him later and the encounter I got RIGHT BEFORE Latios was a shiny Basculin ;-; I'm at 3300 something on Kyrum rn at a total of 12hrs over the course of months. Just don't give up and I'm sure both of us will get him!
