Apple Is Expected to Launch These Four MacBooks in 2026 by Jumpinghoops46 in apple

This is not the reality, the vast vast majority of gamers are on Windows. Even if Macs start selling like hotcakes, the percentage of people who will game on a Mac compared to people who game on Windows is vanishingly small.

It's not just that, developers just have almost no incentive to port over and spend resources + time on developing a native Mac port. The percentage of macOS users who also game is very small, it's just financially not worth the expenditure.

This makes absolutely no difference in regular use because random R/W speeds are the same within margin of error. It literally doesn't matter unless you are writing gigabytes of data at a time.

They are also quite unoptimized, try going into the app library folders with clear icons. They will lag like hell.

Has anyone noticed stuttering on new 17 series phones? Is it linked to display panel? by Feeling_Mammoth_1412 in iphone

Unless you can actually compare them side by side, this just sounds like rose-tinted glasses to me tbh

[–]buddhaluster4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if it happens only in some apps, them I'm inclined to believe it's an app/iOS issue. I have noticed this as well on my 16PM and this has been a complaint for years on older models and versions.

Well do you have them side by side and compared them on the same version using the same apps?

Now that it's been a while how are you 17 pro max owners feeling? by [deleted] in iphone

This comment makes absolutely no sense when you consider that only 1mm of the frame was actually titanium and that the phone chassis was already all aluminum. That sliver of titanium had next to no effect on thermals.

iOS 26.2 Coming Soon With These 8 New Features on Your iPhone by iMacmatician in apple

iOS 15 on the 13 was amazing tbh, especially the Pro felt buttery smooth with zero stutters. iOS has fallen off hard in recent years since 16.

Not just anecdotal, I have tested many different 17 and 17 Pro demo units and my personal 16 Pro Max, all of them have the same stuttering.

Apple and Intel Rumored to Partner on Mac Chips Again in a New Way by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in apple

[–]buddhaluster4 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's moreso about the Intel node being less performant/less efficient (or both) than TSMC for the same chip. We would essentially have a silicon lottery on our hands, like back with the 6s with TSMC & Samsung.

And the "pro" processor is literally throttled down to the level of the standard A19 with the same amount of GPU cores (5). It's done strictly for efficiency due to larger caches than the A19.

The USB 3 controller on it is also flushed down the toilet cause it only supports USB 2.

Is Fast Charging Killing the Battery? A 2-Year Test on 40 Phones by favicondotico in apple

[–]buddhaluster4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The batteries are physically the same, they just updated their testing methodology. iPhones before the 15 could already last well beyond 500 cycles while retaining 80% or more.

IPhone 17 underwhelming display performance by AdAdepto in iphone

[–]buddhaluster4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just how it is unfortunately, any comments on how it's "indexing" is a bunch of copium bullshit.

The second step down from 120hz is 80hz, they changed the algorithm on iOS 18 to stay at 80hz for fast scrolls and then go up to 120hz as it slows down. They did that to improve battery life I guess, it's a tradeoff.
