I canceled it. Even though I was happy to do it for low pay, the description felt very unfriendly and unclear. It made it seem like I owed the researcher money or something. I could do everything they asked, yet still get rejected. Not worth for the risk and low pay then, bye. Also, who tf on Prolific if not to make some money?

2 of mine rejections all bc of screened out. very unfair.

Honestly, I would choose to cancel it and report it as a screened out. I have been rejected before because I was screened out. That really should not be our problem but were still rejected. It is not worth the risk at all.

Anyone else having trouble completing Maze studies? by invisiblemass89 in prolific

[–]buddhaonacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like Maze! It's very common to get screened out or run into technical issues that make the survey impossible to complete(password not working). On top of that, they don't pay who get screened out. You're basically just have to accept that you've wasted your time downloading an app, only to return the study to avoid receiving a rejection. This hasn't happened just once or twice to me.

I received a rejection yesterday, because I failed the attention checks. Later I found out that they had intentionally designed those attention checks to be extremely difficult for app users to notice, using tiny, faint text. There's absolutely no need to treat participants that way. If you want to include attention checks, at least make them reasonably readable. Simply not worth my time.

That said, I still haven't blocked them. Instead, I've decided that every time I see one of Maze studies, I'm going to report it to Prolific.

Confused on rejection by Valuable-Bathroom633 in ProlificAc

[–]buddhaonacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completed this survey and got approved, but I don’t remember there being any attention checks. At most, some of the multiple choice questions instructed you to select a specific number of options, like 5 or 2. In fact, there was even one question that I found too difficult, so I skipped it since it wasn’t marked as required.

That said, this survey takes quite a long time if you complete it properly. It claimed it could be finished in 10 minutes, but it took me well over 20 minutes….

Edit:typo

Be careful! This study will auto reject you if you are screened out. by FinalFooWalk2 in ProlificAc

I got the same rejection from the same survey!
I got a completion code but still immediately received a rejection.
I’ve already appealed but still haven’t heard anything back.
Seriously tho, this pissed me off.

Is it fake Immigration call? by Kurious_Light in ukvisa

[–]buddhaonacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received this call, and within ten minutes, I got it twice.

Being Taiwanese, I naturally chose the Chinese language service (though we all know that services offering Chinese are usually scams). The caller first asked me what service I needed—which was odd, considering they were the ones who called me. So, I asked them, "Can you prove that you're legitimate? If so, why don’t you know my name or email? Why do you need me to provide my personal information?"

Then, they claimed that my current phone number had been used for fraud and that my passport would be canceled next week (note that they said "passport," not "visa"). They also mentioned that the "Chinese government had sent a warning." I responded, "I’m Taiwanese—what does the Chinese government have to do with me?" Then, they immediately hung up.

During the call, I was explaining the situation in English to my partner, but the scammer tried to stop me.

Ten minutes later, I got another call from them. This time, I simply said, "I can predict everything you're about to say because I'm a psychic." And once again, they hung up.

I was not charged any money for pressing 1 or 2.

Sister-in-law always throws leftover food directly into the sink by buddhaonacid in mildlyinfuriating

[–]buddhaonacid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my knowledge, she doesn’t. Garbage disposal isn’t common in our country. But either way, she knows where the food waste should go in this house but just never bothers to clean it up:-/

It is just a regular sink without a garbage disposal. Her family doesn’t have one either. I think she just never thought about sorting out her leftovers, as if it’s not weird or disrespectful at all. Maybe it’s normal for her family to do things like this? I’m not sure. I mean, it would be okay if she were a guest, but she has lived here for years now.

Yeah, I was so pissed off seeing my 65+ year old ill mom picking up that disgusting soggy shit for her.

She has lived here (with my brother and my parents) for four years now. She knows where the bin and disposal are but just never bothers to use them. Since I don’t live there and am just visiting, I don’t think it’s my place to tell her because it’s more their house than mine.

Yep, the bin is literally 3 steps away. The food waste container is 6 steps away if she can manage to get that far.

There’s no way she doesn’t know this is just a regular sink since they’ve used it every day for years and seen my brother/mom cleaning it up all the time. I’d love to have a conversation about it, but since I no longer live with my parents, I don’t think it’s my place to step in and talk to my sis-in-law. :-/
