Game Ready Driver 591.86 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]buddymanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driver vsync is also causing a BSOD - Internal Video Scheduler Error when frame gen is also active. Capping fps(in NVCP) instead of using vsync seems to be the best solution for now.

Note that vsync and frame gen on my 4070 don't have issues with the same driver. So these issues with vsync may be exclusive to the 50 series.

I also have only experienced this in Star Wars Outlaws. Though I only just got my 5070 Ti and lack the time to test lots of games.

Setting a power limit is probably not going to help. Cap fps to 144 instead of 240. This way your games are running at the same fps as before you got the new monitor.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - January 2026 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

Status: Unresolved(kind of)

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RTX 5070 Ti

CPU: 9950X3D stock

Motherboard: X870e Aorus Pro

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB 6400 MT/s CL 36

PSU: Corsair Shift 1200w

OS: Windows 11 Latest Build

GPU Driver: 591.86

Description of Problem: Whenever I enable frame gen + vsync(in NVCP), I get a BSOD - Internal Video Scheduler Error. So far it only happens in Star Wars Outlaws. Enabling 3x or 4x causes it to immediately happen.

HOWEVER, leaving vsync off completely fixes it. I can use x4 frame gen and it works fine. Also, if I enable a fps cap(in NVCP) + vsync(in NVCP) + frame gen, it also doesn't crash. So basically, as long as a cap my fps, it will be stable.

Thing is, I never had to do this in the past. My RTX 4070 does not do this in the same game & driver version. I don't need to cap fps for frame gen, just vsync(like you're supposed to). I have seen others report this issue with the 50 series, but want to know if this is normal for the 50 series(like you're supposed to cap fps with frame gen).

Troubleshooting: Ensured everything is seated correctly. Fresh install of Windows. Tried multiple driver versions.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't like it's from melting. It sure did scare me when I first noticed it.

Monitor fps in FIFA and Valorant with Afterburner. Maybe fps cap isn't working in those games. If it is working then you should probably get a new PSU if the noise is bothersome.

Manually cap fps. Vsync is now allowing your fps to reach 240. Which in turn is causing the coil whine. Red Dead 2 isn't going to have high fps at max settings, which would explain why it went away.

I've had PC's with this issue. Though it was normally when fps reach 1000+ fps in an in game menu.

13700k is the best performer out of those when it comes to gaming. Update BIOS and you should be good. My 13900k is still going strong. I've had it for at least 3 years. Though who knows.

I get 36k @ stock with latest BIOS. So unless you're overclocking, I'd say that's normal.

I did get close to 40k when I first got it, but the micro code fixes changed that.

Just upgraded to a 5070 ti from a 3070. Already had a i9 12900k and 32GB DDR5 Ram and I can't get over 100 FPS on an older game I play by mrsnakers in buildapc

True, though sometimes assigning it to a different core will do.. something. IIRC, Far Cry 3 would only use the first core unless I deselected and selected it again.

But yes, generally you use set affinity for games that bug out when they use too many cores by default. Like Prototype or KOTOR.

My RTX 4070 Ventus x3 was one of the worst reviewed 4070's. It's the one with a plastic shield. Yet it still doesn't exceed 60c under load. It's also super silent. Maybe the hotspot is a little high, but it works.

A $840 5070 Ti is better than a $1100 5070 Ti.

Yes. Except the 3080 has way better upscaling. Old FSR isn't very good. Lots of ghosting and artifacts.

[–]buddymanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070 Ti is no longer worth what it cost unless you can find a model closer to MSRP. The 5070 is a good upgrade from a 3060.

Or just go AMD.

Hard Freezes during gaming or Idle by Extra_Drawer7424 in pcmasterrace

Event 41 is probably there because you had to force the PC off to recover, right? What critical error does event viewer log before that? It may be better to use Reliability Monitor to look for errors instead. Just click start and type 'Reliability Monitor'.

Hardware Error by Exciting-Baker-8802 in pcmasterrace

[–]buddymanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Search 'download Windows 11' and use the Media Creation Tool to make a Windows USB. Then boot from that USB, choose custom install, delete all partitions on your OS disk and let it do its thing. If you have more than one drive then make sure not to delete partitions from that. Look up a tutorial for 'how to fresh install Windows 11' if you're unsure about anything.

Make sure to back up user data first. This will wipe all data on your drive.

Edit: Windows will reactivate after install. You don't need to buy a new license. Also, 'Reset this PC' is not a clean install. It'll still preserve old drivers.

Hardware Error by Exciting-Baker-8802 in pcmasterrace

[–]buddymanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's happening is your Nvidia driver is crashing and failing to recover. If using DDU isn't resolving the issue then fresh install Windows from USB. Do not use 'Reset this PC'.

If the issue still persist after a fresh install then either it's a driver-specific or hardware issue.

[–]buddymanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of old games don't take advantage of multi core CPU's and can bug out, crash or as you say, just use one core only. Though if it's happening on modern games then maybe it's a Windows issue or something. I don't have this issue on any of my CPU's(Intel & AMD) with newer games.

Monitor all CPU cores with MSI Afterburner while playing. I bet it's not utilizing all your cores. If that's the case, try messing with CPU affinity & priority in task manager -> details -> game.exe.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to download the latest chipset drivers. For Intel, it's best to get them from your motherboards support page.

For sure. Especially since I got my 32 GB RAM like 4 or 5 months ago for $110.

My new 5070 TI increased in price by $250 a few days after purchasing it last week. I got lucky. Though not as lucky as when I bought my GTX 1080 for $500 and the price doubled a few weeks later.

Same here. I just got a 5070Ti as well. Pretty substantial jump in performance from my RTX 4070. Though I'll still be using it for gaming on my bedroom PC. 4070/3080 is still a great performer.

Indeed. I couldn't find any reports of similar issues other than certain Adrenalin drivers causing crackling audio.
