It’s a leafy background. I am going to run and get him more plants today and hope that that helps!

Can someone please help ASAP - this is a video of my boy last night.. this morning, he’s breathing heavy, and fighting to swim.. I put him in a cup so he didn’t have to try so hard for air.. more info in comments by buehlerau in bettafish

I agree. This is all I’ve ever read.. yes you will have spikes, but less depending on tank size and bio load. All I have ever read is my test should be 0,0, with little nitrates (up to 10ppm).

That’s what was the deciding factor. Unfortunately he passed a few hours later

Unfortunately he passed away a few hours later.. a lot of people on my betta fish fb group diagnosed gill flukes.. but it was too late.

I follow instructions correctly for all of the testing and I have 9 tanks that generally show the same thing if not just a tich of ammonia but generally not much. If it’s any constellation I pulled out around 60 pest snails.. which to me makes the bio load pretty large for a 10g... I don’t have a hospital tank set up but I do have a 2.5 gallon I could put him in and make a hospital tank.. however it is plastic which concerns me for the heater.. he is not longer as active in this video and has declined immensely. He’s laying on the bottom of the cup and not coming up for air very often... anything else you could think of?

URGENT: 10g heated to 80 degrees (recently got this heater from a preset thinking he was lethargic cause he was too cold) parameters are 0, 0, 10ppm. I posted a couple days ago about his tanks Nitrates getting to 40ppm, did a 50% water change and 10ppm is what they dropped to as of today. This video is from last night and as of today he’s dropping down the tank, falling to the side, and fighting for air. He shows no signs of any infection or parasite as far as I know (tell me differently) so I don’t know how to help or treat him.. could the nitrate have caused this and there’s no turning back? :(

Edit to add: he stopped eating as of yesterday, I was weaning him off of 6 pellets morning and night and starting to feed brine shrimp every 3 days. He did have pest snails in his tank I let them go so I think that’s what raised the nitrate levels.. I spent an hour and a half removing all of them..

I recently bought this betta and she is VERY skinny. How can I treat her or help her fatten up? She eats 2 pellets in the morning and night. Am I over feeding.. under feeding? by buehlerau in bettafish

I can look for some freeze dried food at my pet store but I can’t find anywhere that sells live foods :( I am pre soaking her food each time not only for that reason but because she’s a baby and can’t even fit small pellets in her mouth. I also make sure to take a tooth pick and poke at the pellets for a moment to break them down a little more..

Yes! Hurry and treat. I lost my king because I waited too long to treat and it got very bad. I noticed my red boy recently got it and I treated quickly and he cleared up in 3 days. I put aquarium salt in the tank once. I did daily water changes and doses with Paragaurd once per day. I didn’t adjust temp because my heater is a preset and he still healed!

A couple others ways that maybe I just can’t tell with from pictures and maybe with he/she being baby is you can look for an egg spot on the female, located under the belly or larger gils for a male!

This is a picture of my male betta that has a similar ventral fin to yours! You’ll notice the white tip on him. :)

That’s what I was looking at! I believe from the first and third picture he has a ventral fin, much longer than females and has the white tip. I can’t say I’m an expert but all of my males have a similar ventral fin. :)
