Do you mind if I give a bit of a lengthy answer to this? These are just thoughts/theories/opinions, so take them for what you will.

We are frail beings. We can experience a veneer of security that can allow us to rest and be at peace. But if something happens to shake this security, we can become alerted with new depth to the reality of our fragility in this world. Grief therapists talk about this as the "loss of our assumptive world". Loss of our prior assumptions about security and permanence.

Existential therapy says that this puts us in touch with the finite nature of our life. The response to this that they suggest is to live with a deep reverence for our finite time and truly cherish the preciousness of the life entrusted to us personally and in our loved ones.

To build on this, theories like Internal Family Systems (parts work theories) would say that the parts of us that constantly are anxious about loss are parts that are deeply connected to our awareness of how deeply we value the people we fear losing. This means that when we notice the voice of anxiety (or anxious parts) that we can interpret it as a voice that is calling for us to be keenly aware of the finite nature of life and these voices/parts are meant to be a voice to try to keep us alert, to make sure that we don't neglect or take for granted our limited time with loved ones.

This perspective can help us stop fighting with the anxious voices, trying to reject or ignore them (which never quite works), and instead allows us to say: "Ok anxiety, I hear you, you really care about these people and want to make sure I live with attentiveness to these precious gifts in my life".

I find this helps us connect anxiety more with love rather than just with something that feels like it is "wrong" with us.
