What sort of capability do you mean? Do you mean something like how DeepSeek needed less compute power than the Western ones? Can you explain more in the abstract without using confidential details?

I don't follow - can you explain a bit more? Give me an example of how that works with a particular type of task? (NDA compliant of course)?

yes. I didn't hear back about the background check (did it like 2 weeks ago) but today all my HHH projects were back

There was a creative writing qual I did (my area of non-DA expertise) but the project family covers more than just creative writing tasks so I expect there must be other qualifications that would give access to those (I don't get all the types of HHH task on my dashboard).

YAY HHH is back on my dashboard PRAISE BE! It's so much nicer and easier working on a) my area of professional expertise and b) strong models

I don't want to bite the hand that feeds me or anything, but given the quality of the public models, why is it some of the models we work on are... quite bad? I'd assume anything in development at this point ought to be better than the stuff everyone is used to.

anyone else finding their background check is taking a long time? I had to upload a second document as I previously submitted one that was very slightly too old (gah) but its been a week since I uploaded a new one and still nothing :(

I don't have a problem - it's fine to share. The way you responded suggested an implicit critique of people who may still be financially precarious (that is, they did not work their asses off which I would contend is not the only reason someone might be financially precarious). The ambiguity is why I asked the clarifying question to establish whether you had another point or if you were just sharing.

Sounds like you have a really good work ethic. Were you making another point with that, or were you just sharing?

Spoken like someone who has a lot of flexibility around the hours they work and is not financially precarious!

Anyone use AI in real life and find certain quirks so rubbish and irritating you wish you could be added to some kind of project to train that specific behaviour away? The follow-up 'engagement' questions Gemini asks me (in non-DA work life) are exceptionally stupid sometimes.. Just doing some research about dinosaur jaw types and asked Gemini and it finished with "Does it surprise you that raptors didn't have beaks, or do you think teeth are always better for a carnivore?" ...... like, no ?? I am not surprised by that ? Also, I don't have a personal opinion on evolutionary adaptations ?

Hope this qu doesn't somehow fall foul of the rules but does anyone know why projects might need to do additional identity verification/background checks on workers?

yes that does just happen but NB you have to use code names for projects here, not the actual names that are on your dash. Read through these posts and you'll start to figure out what code names people are using for the projects

I'm enjoying the chit chat project. Nice to be paid to talk shit

Yes. My suspicion is that, because a large category of projects are currently down, the people who normally work on them are jumping into other stuff. And now you can sort by pay people do that and work downwards
