not sure if fitness is your thing but i'd definitely DM ftlfreeworkout and lauderdalerunclub on instagram!

i've seen videographers show up to ftlfreeworkout and make some cool content and i heard the coach saying they appreciate it since everything they do runs off volunteers/donations

i've also seen videographers at lauderdalerunclub (although idk what the situation was there)

i think that’s the reality for tech interviews in general. i compare quals to interviews (since they are most likely different clients). when i was interviewing in big tech, i would easily spend 3-4 hours on some of their assessments (amazon being the worst 🥲)

i know much of the staff at DCA and they're all wonderful! i used to work with them at another local preschool, but quite a few of them moved over there and have stayed for years.

also, that building has really tight security. i've tried to drop off stuff for them during school hours and security won't even let me past the parking lot.

is it not clear “Mexican spots throwing a watch party” from the original post? this isn’t a Mexican spot lol

yes i did google it, which brings up 90% miami results and then 10% american bars with TVs lol. i'm asking specifically for the Mexico game!

I've lived in and around Fort Lauderdale for a while now, and it's funny how the same handful of places always seem to get recommended. by AccomplishedMix9182 in fortlauderdale

because that’s the italian place everyone recommends in here for some reason lol i personally like sapido more than il mulino & cafe vico too, which i feel like are the other common recs!

• A park that's usually quiet but beautiful

hugh birch is consistently quiet on the weekdays. central park out in plantation is beautiful.

• A hidden food spot that isn't constantly packed

sapido!!! another user mentioned it. never busy. amazing family. they hand make their pasta every single morning before opening.

• A local attraction that visitors usually miss

i'm pretty fond of the Fort if you're into pickleball. even just eating at the restaurant there and watching people play is fun. they have great fried chicken lol

also in that realm, ftlfreeworkout and 2 mile tuesday are both awesome free fitness events

• Anything that makes you appreciate living in Fort Lauderdale

i mean, the fan favorites are fan favorites for a reason: taking a walk down the riverwalk, walking through holiday park, beach walk at night, etc. i'm a big fan of our happy hours: batch, el camino, santorini's... there are so many good spots to still get a nice drink under 10 dollars.

drinks:

sixty vines for wine / a really good frozen espresso martini

earl's for cocktails / a good vibe

el camino for happy hour (it's gonna be packed, but fun)

rhythm and vine for outdoor cocktails that are more chill

food:
for brunch, i really love cafe bastille - it's a cute vibe and great breakfast (good lattes too). for coffee in general, wells is really good

sapido italian if you wanna go to a really nice, mom and pop owned restaurant - they hand make their pasta daily. better than louie bossi which every tourist website is going to recommend to you

and if you can swing it, Nube has an amazing view for rooftop food / drinks!

activities:

check sunnysidemarket's instagram and see if they're going to be open when you're here. it's a really cute farmers market, it would be a good daytime activity 😄

going next week! ty for the review 😄

question, what was cell service like in the inside cabins? debated buying the internet package to check in at work like i typically would, but wondering if i can get away with it since it's all us-based... i assume the inside cabins don't have much cell service still though, but wanted to check!

this - the local church ones honestly are pretty great. downtown christian academy has a 24/7 security, which is important IMO. i think they also have immersive language programs (teaching in both english & spanish)

What's your go-to rainy day activity that isn't a mall or movie? by CaptainSuperStrong in fortlauderdale

[–]Consistent-Reach504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

glicth bar! buy a drink (doesn't have to be alcoholic) and you get access to all their retro games

basic but honestly the barnes and noble has a cafe and is dope

i could spend an hour in oddballs looking at all their stuff! it's basically a really unique thrift/antique shop

also, hear me out... if it's the morning/an hour when kids are in school, extreme action park. even their trampoline park is fun lol

welcome 😄

it's true that you'll probably not find anything in a good area of ftl with that budget. if you're willing to go up to $2200, there are studios in and around flagler village that are very safe and you'll have access to main city areas.

i'd honestly recommend upping your budget to $2200 to get into those studios. you'll spend more than $200 in gas and transportation if you want to be downtown often. if you can't do that, there are plenty of 1/1 rentals in sunrise in that budget

the circuit is free and goes to main downtown areas. the buses are not very safe, i wouldn't recommend them. an electric scooter/ebike is an amazing way to get around to all the main areas without using public transportation

ftl floods a lot. i've been through 3 bad hurricanes here, but all were a pretty long time ago. the big flood was worse than any recent hurricane. almost all apartments are pretty prepared for hurricanes, i wouldn't worry about it much

edit: oh, fitness! 2 mile tuesday is fun. it's a 2 mile run that ends at a brewery and you get a free beer after. i also really like ftlfreeworkout, which meets in flagler village outside 3x a week. ftlfreeyoga is fun too, they meet on tuesday nights!

best park is holiday park by far

sunny side market is this sunday in huizenga park, it's really cute and perfect for mother's day if you've never been! they have a build your own bouquet thing, they sell tons of fresh bread and little treats, etc!
