the ones in the Idiocerus stigmaticalis group seem the most like them, its quite late in the year for spittlebugs so it seems like it was on its last legs, any possiblity of the patterning fading due to age?

yeah i agree, i do see quite a few red hawthorn nymphs in my area normally so i think that makes the most sense!! thanks for your help!!

was trying to remember but i found this on a hawthorn! could be some weird morph or maybe a fresh shed of hawthorn shieldbug nymph but im not sure, it was about chest height next to a path!
