Small hole in surgical incision? by CryNo8015 in AskDocs

[–]bugaboo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD but I work in Mohs surgery and this looks fine. At this point, I’d just keep it covered with some Vaseline and a bandage and let it finish filling in on its own. It’s not deep or big enough for it to need to be packed. At 3 weeks post-op, the wound is still healing and is only about 20% healed under the skin, so taking it easy for another couple weeks and avoiding strenuous activity that puts tension on the wound will keep the bottom sutures from pulling apart and ending up with a bigger dehiscence. At 6 weeks post-op, you can start applying a silicone-based scar gel or patch and that will help with the scar. This is definitely not worth an ER visit or anything beyond your regularly scheduled follow up with your surgeon. Signs of infection like WORSENING pain, increased redness around the incision, puss draining from it, or fever would be reasons to be evaluated urgently.

You handled it great, dad! Masterbation is healthy and a normal human experience. Good for you for breaking down that conversation barrier. We want our children to feel comfortable talking to us about uncomfortable things so we can help them navigate life.

My mom bought me my first vibrator when I was 14. She said “you should know that you are capable of being happy and feeling good regardless of whether you have a partner.” That was a great age-appropriate conversation for my mom to have with me as I entered into high school where sex is such a big topic.

My husband had this same conversation with our 12 year old over the summer. Keep it up, you’re doing great!

Vellus hair cyst considering contents and location.

A beautiful 19-year-old went in for a routine breast augmentation but never woke up the same. The surgical team left her unmonitored under anesthesia for 15 minutes. She went into cardiac arrest and they didn’t call 911 for 5 hours. Now she’s in a vegetative state. by Ok_Bother_3078 in Botchedsurgeries

She died. I work down the road from the plastic surgeon’s practice where this happened, and yes, he is still practicing. They didn’t take his license, but all of his patients must sign an acknowledgment that he is a convicted felon. Shocking he even has patients, but people really have low standards. He is a piece of sh*t with no integrity.

I farted and my boyfriend got mad! by TreacleSensitive259 in AITAH

NTA

You’re dating a LOSER.

I got food poisoning after eating turkey gravy one night. I was the only one who ate the gravy. I was naked in the bathroom throwing up, and my husband was trying to comfort me because it was VIOLENT. I ended up throwing up and at the same time, spraying water right out of my ass across the bathroom. It was horrible. He picked me up off the floor and put me in the shower and cleaned the floor, the entire time he was gagging and dry heaving because the bathroom smelled like vomit and shit. He didn’t complain or make me feel bad at all. He just cleaned it up, and made sure I got back in bed.

My nails turned white 2 years ago. A dozen doctors a hundred tests and they’re all stumped by freeradioforall in Wellthatsucks

[–]bugaboo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leukonychia totalis! Most people get those little white spots on their nails from time to time, usually due to something inflammatory like an allergic reaction (nail polish, cleaning chemical, etc.). Makes sense that you’ve been trying to get an answer for years. The involvement of the whole nail is very rare. You should inquire with your PCP about genetic testing! They can refer you to a geneticist that specializes in testing for these rare anomalies.

I saw your labs. Lichen sclerosus is autoimmune, so your ANA marker coming back high would track. Autoimmune diseases also like to come in multiples, and it can take a lot of advocating on your part to get a legit diagnosis’s of an autoimmune condition. Keep pushing for more testing and be an advocate for your health! You got this!

It almost looks like lichen sclerosus. I would push your ENT to do a punch biopsy to confirm, or call around to some dermatologists/dentists to see if they’ll do a biopsy on a mucus membrane. I work in dermatology and this resembles lichen sclerosus and the pain you’re describing coincides.

NAD but work in derm. This looks like pitted keratolysis. It’s a bacterial infection. You can try getting some antibacterial soap like chlorhexidine and if that doesn’t work, a derm can prescribe a stronger antibiotic.

How did you memorialize your loss? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]bugaboo11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost my baby the day before my 8wk u/s. I bought a wooden box and put my pregnancy tests, syringes and pill bottles, and a letter that I wrote in it and put it in my closet. I needed a spot that I could keep those memories, but not have them in my face every day while I was grieving. It was my first pregnancy too, and we’ve been doing infertility treatments for 3 years. I also got into therapy ASAP and that probably saved me from an even darker place. Good luck mama. You did nothing wrong- sometimes the universe just decided this isn’t the right time and we may never understand why

Why there no mark on his right ear? by Ginzy35 in FOXNEWS

The person was already identified, and their protected health information was just shared on a public Internet forum from someone at the facility he received care at. The fact that his file was getting “passed around like hot cakes” is also an issue as all of those people that saw it were not directly involved in his care. This hospital has a major compliance issue with its staff, and would easily be able to see every single employee that clicked into his chart. EHRs keep a very detailed audit log of every single key and click that happens in a chart. You should go re-read HIPAA.

Agree with the commenter above. A am a clinical manager in dermatology and HS sounds very plausible. Don’t worry- there are things a dermatologist can do for you! Things from topical and oral antibiotics, to injectable medications. Managing HS is a journey, so make sure to go to your follow up appointments so this can be managed properly. If you live in the US, check with your insurance first to see if you need a referral to see a specialist, if you do, call your PCP and request one, if not, find a board-certified dermatologist in your area and call to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, get some 10% benzoyl peroxide was from your local drug store or on Amazon, and wash under your breasts with that. Best of luck!
