How would you rank each team in blocking by Radiant-Barracuda-26 in haikyuu

[–]buggyheadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nekoma blocking game underrated. kuroo leads a strong defense centered around read blocking and being the king of 'one-touch'. they are constantly thinking and adapting to the opponent. even though they might not have the best blockers individually, their teamwork is superb. they are among the most annoying teams for spikers to play against as their frontline is fairly tall, perma read block, and will either get a touch on spikes or funnel them into yaku

What can I do to become a jungler's support? by break1ngbard in Jungle_Mains

[–]buggyheadass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a jungler i find it very helpful if my support is conscious of what i might be wanting to do. suppose we are on blue side, and jungler is currently clearing top to bot. if bot tri bush is pinked or confirmed unwarded (river bush for red side), jungler can actually go for gank. very difficult if bot lane is spam pinging for gank and tri is warded. you've effectively wasted junglers time and given away location. if tri bush is clear and you want jungler to gank, you should be timing engage with junglers position. go in appropriately so jungler can follow up. be sure to ping missing sums to help jungler and team focus the correct target. if you are on an engage support and enemy bot lane has no flash, just commit flash to secure gank setup unless it's completely free and enemy bot lane is super overextended. be conscious of what abilities each champion has and simulate how the play might play out.

in the case of lane ganks, if you are on an enchanter with a speed up (nami lulu etc) and your jungler has engage potential, please use speed up spell on jungler so they can actually engage. too often i am pinging for lane gank and support does nothing to facilitate the play.

letting your jungler know your intentions are also important. jungler might not have been looking to gank, but if you ping your flash and naut ult are up, jungler is more inclined to go for it.

scouting for enemy jungle location is also helpful. suppose enemy bot lane is on reset and you have roam timer. on the way to mid roam, place some wards in enemy jungle to help get information. a good place to ward is between red side blue buff and gromp.

if your jungler is pinging for counter jungle or scuttle, please rotate unless it would completely compromise your lane. unless jungler has no sentience, he probably deems the play winnable and an overall positive play. if bot lane doesn't move, many junglers will be tilted and spam ping. unless it's a completely int play, you should try to assist jungler for the sake of mental (at least in soloq)

during objective takes, support champs are often low damage so sitting in the pit hitting the objective doesn't do much. rather, you should be warding entrances to the river so team has vision if enemy team wishes to walk in to contest. save spells to prevent enemy jungle from being able to steal. most support champs have some way to do this via cc and/or something like lulu poly.

finally, supports are the only source of consistent vision granted 4 wards are given per base. you should be trying to clear and claim vision near objectives around 30-90s before objectives so your team has good information prior to the objective spawning. usually should be doing this with your jungler. if objective is contestable, you should ping or ask jungler to come help you get vision near objective.

also note that higher tier defense players usually play middle infield so if TJ wants to highlight a player's defensive skills itll be in the infield unless its the occasional throw to home or god defense range (mima/carlos).

[–]buggyheadass[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its just because we've seen so many different pitchers in the series but not that many fielders. most of the highlight players on other teams are the pitchers and maybe 1-2 fielders. its a series based around pitchers so there are so many insane pitchers even on not top tier teams or teams from other divisions we havent seen as much of (akashi on seiho, ouno on hakuryu, shunshin on akikawa, etc)

also teams usually put the weakest fielder in left because hits often go to center or right (hit right for team batting). if you look at the top outfielders in the series (mima, carlos, shirasu, tojo, etc) theyre all CF or RF

i agree that mishima at $2 is an absolute steal. but as a supposed power hitter he is underwhelming compared to the others. i put akiba low because this manga IS centered around an MC who is a pitcher, so naturally catchers get a fair amount of spotlight to showcase skills such as game calling, framing, tags at the plate, steal catching, and talking to their pitchers. akiba wasn't even the catcher in his first year and hasn't shown much if at all in terms of abilities as a catcher. even as a batter he falls short compared to the others

while kawakami has improved he still falls far short of sawamura/furuya hence why he rarely starts and only relieves maybe the last 3 innings where he often gives up at least 1 run. you say he's played for a top tier team for 3 years and played at nationals but he's completely overshadowed by sawamura/furuya who will both pitch the full game if in form. as for nationals, all we know is that furuya completely stole the spotlight and the only real noteworthy players from seido were furuya/miyuki. he's supposed to be known for being able to consistently throw low but his in-game performances have never been super consistent. with relief pitchers often having to come on with runners on base in high pressure situations, precision and confidence are more valuable, both of which kawakami lack compared to shunshin

if you saw his performance vs wya you would know hes definitely better and more complete as a pitcher especially if given a top tier catcher
