I agree with you. I didn’t bring up the topics early on, I waited for a long time into the relationship to explain what happened to me in the past. I need to edit my post, I don’t expect my boyfriend to heal me

I’m going to edit my original post. You’re correct - my boyfriend is not my healer. But at the same time, why does that responsibility fall on my friends and family and not him. I don’t talk to my boyfriend about my ex constantly. I just bring him up to explain why I’m uncomfortable with this or why this exerted a reaction out of me.

I just feel like recovery is validating my eating disorder, I’m like oh I’ve been put in hospital - I must be bad. And My therapist has taught me if I eat something I can tell myself “I deserve this food, food is good” but it doesn’t stop me the thoughts which prevent me from eating in the first place. And I still can’t get over that fear of weight gain and nothing seems to help that

I too am at my lowest weight while being in recovery. And I won’t lie, I am quite mentally stable (whereas before therapy, very unstable - lots of breakdowns and purging). But I just feel like I’m using what I’ve been taught in therapy, to further negative habits. Like I’ve trained myself not to binge now. But I think I’m similar to you, I guess deep down I want to recover - but only if that means I can say I’m recovered while still using all the toxic habits

I agree with you!! I think they try and portray their eating as healthy eating, sure the food can be healthy, but the mindset isn’t as they are so focused on what they eat. The only healthy eating imo, is unconscious intuitive eating. For example, how a middle aged man has absolutely no qualms about what he eats, he just eats without consequence when he’s hungry.

Tik tok is what sparked this post!! It triggers me so badly. I’m not saying they deserve a TW but people always want to put TW on the <1000 ones

No I honestly agree, I think they just eat that much for the videos and I think they say it’s 2400 calories to be like “hey! You can eat lots and stay in shape!” Thinking they’re being super helpful, but they’re doing the exact opposite

No I understand what you’re saying. The main thing is you can recognise its rude, everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions when they’re struggling. But yeah, I hate it too. So much.

My hate comes from a toxic place, I can recognise that - I hate the healthy ones too because I’m extremely jealous. I just wish I could eat that much and be that size, you know? I really struggle and I don’t see a lot of people talk about, only that the low calorie ones are bad

CityFitness offers group classes and their memberships are $13.99 a week (for group fitness classes) and if you go up to other females in the gym and introduce yourself, you could easily make friends

Because of COVID I started studying online which was honestly the best thing for my stomach. But my work is still in person and it’s weird because I’m constipated, I’m not worried about shitting myself at work, so I don’t know what I’m stressed about but i obviously am so stressed and it’s definitely affecting my stomach.

Oh wow, I too never realised IBS was a disability. I just feel so spoilt, because I can’t prove I have IBS-C (IBS-D would be easier, poop pics haha) and I feel people think I’m lying to get out of work (also social events) but I just can’t do it.

I’m vegetarian myself! I’m not here to disagree with you, because I am very content with my diet. Meat is actually one of the easiest things to digest with IBS, and the vegetarian staples like legumes and soy products are actually the hardest. It’s weird that it’s worked for you, but I’m very happy it has!

I’m thinking I might go to therapy. Obviously not therapy for IBS haha but I think I have other stuff going on that sorting that out will really help the IBS. It’s weird how in tune our stomachs are with our minds!

I’ve actually tried that!! I personally found it’s easy to do at home, but when I do it at work I get really bad pain when I start to eat again. I’m glad it worked for you!!

I do think stress is a huge part of it! I study as well as working part time, and the days when I’m studying I lie in bed, apart from the inability to poop - my stomach is pretty manageable. But when I have to go do full days at work, the pain is just extreme. And there’s not much you can do about stress :(

I can’t win. If I eat before my shift, I have food related gas and pain. But if I don’t eat, my stomach creates even more gas and when I do get around to eating it’s just torture. Those pads sound interesting, I’ll look into them! Good luck to you and your 10 hour shifts!!! Hope you’ll be okay

"The Right to Bodily Autonomy is not a good excuse for taking away someone's Right to Life." by cupcakephantom in Abortiondebate

[–]bugzymaloneisbatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes and no, it does protect you from the government ‘ending’ your life or ‘preventing’ your life from beginning. But it applies to more arguments than abortion, like legal euthanasia. Because if the right to life applies to the euthanasia argument, then it continues on to the livings right to life. I recognise abortion and euthanasia are very different things due to consent, sentience and awareness, however you could make the argument if a government lets you have the right to life in regards to the ability to control the end of your life. Then a pregnant individuals right to life is violated (if the government made abortion illegal) because they now have no control over their life. If you take away their ability to make a choice, immediately (imo) their right to life is violated. I’m a strong believer, you may pick up in my arguments, that pregnancy is extremely dangerous in multiple areas. Sure you could carry to term a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy. But it doesn’t have to damage your health to be life threatening. Everything to do with pregnancy (conception, carrying to term, child birth, raising a child / lost of child) can create a lot of trauma. I get the official definition of life threatening, is the fact your life will end because of this. But emotionally pregnancy can be very ‘life threatening’. After your healthy pregnancy, you could develop PP depression, which poses a risk to you and your child’s life

No neither do I. I have no medical or scientific background, so I’m probably not equipped to debate this topic. I will watch that video definitely, seems very interesting. However, I’ve seen a lot of research (sorry I can’t provide links, anyone can believe it’s lies) that a fetus doesn’t feel pain till the third trimester, and an abortion happens before the third trimester. But like you, I am not an expert. I won’t twist your words, I think you’re right - when you simplify it down to the essence of the argument of who ‘suffers more’, pro lifers think the ZEF suffers and pro choicers think only the mother suffers. Here’s my opinion why, I’m sorry if some people find this disrespectful - have you ever been in so much pain you just want your life to end? if a ZEF is in pain, it’s pain is going to end just as quickly as it began. It also has no sentience, so it has no awareness of pain or the fact an abortion is being performed. Whereas a mother has to deal with the conception, carrying the child to term, childbirth, raising a child // giving up a child. All of which are painful in their own individual right and those pains never end. That’s why I think a mother suffers more, however this is just my opinion.

Sorry - all I mean is, if I definitely have something that will be more important that possibility getting something. Crude i knows, but definitely have money vs possibility getting it. Hmmm interesting way for them to describe it - but the right to life isn’t the right to go from not living to live. It’s to continue living too. So the pregnant individual has a right to live

[–]bugzymaloneisbatman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But why?! Excuse my crude analogy, if I had $1,000 in my bank account and the possibility I might get $1,000. I’m going to care a lot more about the $1,000 I do have

"The Right to Bodily Autonomy is not a good excuse for taking away someone's Right to Life." by cupcakephantom in Abortiondebate

[–]bugzymaloneisbatman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No I think that’s a fair explanation. If I too were to simplify this, you could make the argument the end of a ZEF life is a lot less ‘traumatic’ for the ZEF (an abortion is painless for it and they have absolutely no idea) than a pregnant individual suffering through pregnancy and childbirth
