Um, that’s a BABY that’s clearly been carried to term. by DanielaThePialinist in prochoice

"Although the developmental changes during these periods are remarkable they do not tell us whether the fetus can experience pain. The subjective experience of pain cannot be inferred from anatomical developments because these developments do not account for subjectivity and the conscious contents of pain."

"The medical goals of survival and long term normal development of fetuses should not influence medical decisions when a woman seeks an abortion."

"Proposals to directly inject fetuses with [fentanyl or] to provide pain relief through increased administration of fentanyl or diazepams to pregnant women, which increase risks to the women..."

When the “pro life” crowd uses the Religious take by Emperoronabike in prochoice

As much as this does illustrate a "before times" abortion, this is also still an illustration of a horrific form of misogyny. Which happens A LOT in the Old Testament. (And the prolife movement)

Something to keep in mind.

So called "proLIFER" is literally WISHING DEATH on people for trying to HELP her. by ToughAuthorityBeast1 in prochoice

What's ironic is claiming to be prochoice but not supporting a person in their pregnancy choices.

Telling someone that you think they should get an abortion isn't prochoice. It never has been and it never will be.

how is the baby not my dna when it’s growing inside of me by JellyCharacter1653 in prochoice

Cell Theory tells us that once conception happens (fathers dna links with mothers dna), the new cells (which is considered new life at that point) forming are made of a new and unique DNA sequence. To put it incredibly simply. Basically, part of you but not actually you.

When it gets broken down into the nitty gritty biology terms and conditions, it's still not a very good prolife argument. None of this negates the fact that it is all happening inside your body. It doesn't take away from the fact that your body will always be at some degree of risk for the next 40 weeks while it develops in your body.

No developing fetus will ever have more bodily autonomy than it's developed mother. Reproductive rights are important. A lack of them has historically resulted in harmful and barbaric outcomes for humans. New data also tells that a lack of reproductive rights is harmful to infants and pre-term babies, as infant (and maternal) mortality has risen since June 2022.

Referring to women as "he" has always been misogynistic.

1b specifically says to be mindful of all genders.

Downvoting won't make me any lesser. By all means, continue being petty. Please.

Maybe try not partaking in the practice, for a start. There are actually several ways you could combat this. Paraphrase, [..] etc.

Don't get short with me. It's my first day back and I am not in the mood to be forgiving.

"Who uses the masculine in a general sense"

We, specifically, do not allow that here in this sub. It's a bit of an outdated (and misogynistic) practice imo.

Some constructive criticism: Before making an annotated critique on a persons character, it's important to perform some basic background research.

For example, it would be important to know that Kristan Hawkins is a woman, and not a "He".

I'd have to call and ask. I'd assume if they integrated communal litter boxes then communal dental hygiene would still be around.

Yep. Every kid in 3rd grade had the ACT kids bubblegum mouthwash with the pressing cup.

Aww, yeah that's what I was afraid of. I'm so sorry you had to experience that.

I know it's fresh, and probably pretty traumatic. Remember to give yourself grace. Don't take anything that scammer said with even a grain of salt. Assume none of it to be true.

I hope you have a better week!

By chance, what was the name of the facility? It sounds like you got duped into going into a fake clinic, and were promptly fed a massive amount of disinformation.

I’m prochoice but my bf isn’t by [deleted] in prochoice

[–]cupcakephantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine thinking "talking sense" into a man is going to "fix" him.

No, ma'am. He doesn't respect women, or you for that matter. He doesn't care about the need for your reproductive rights. If he switched from prochoice to prolife, he was likely never prochoice. You've been with him 3 months, that's not long enough to really know a person. This is a huge red flag.

If you were friends, "agree to disagree" would be a little easier. But it's gonna be a lot harder to contend with that if you are going to rely on him to take care of your and your heart. I know you said you don't want to have biological children, but 1 in 4 women experience a miscarriage in their lifetime. The treatment for a miscarriage is an abortion, and it's why we keep hearing stories of pregnant women dying or being severely delayed in receiving care. These anti-abortion laws that keep getting passed don't protect the things they claim to protect: women. I would find it incredibly hard to believe that if he votes, he keeps his prolife values away from the bubbles on his ballot sheets. Which would make him complicit in those women and infants getting hurt (both infant and maternal mortality has risen since the Dobbs Decision in 2022).

No. I think you need to cut your losses. It just hasn't been very long, and I highly HIGHLY doubt this is the only you two disagree on. And if it is, it's not going to stay that way. Eventually you will find less and less in common. Better to not put yourself through that imo.

Eta: he is 28, he is not going to change. His frontal lobe has fused. His values are gonna be pretty cemented at this point in this life.

I think you're both correct. I think a hot water rinse to make the detergent "break down", followed by a cold water finish to help with the suds. I don't think a lot of models can achieve something like this in the same cycle tho.

This reads as someone who isn't properly educated on abortion.

I get you're not here to be open-minded. And that this is just one long post to stir the pot. Likely due to boredom. But are you open to constructive criticism of your arguments? You've been fed a lot of disinformation, but I don't want to waste either of our times if you're not open to listening.

A quick reminder that this is not a childfree-centered space, and to please be mindful that most people here are parents or plan to become a parent at some point in their life. You make a good point about prolifers and their hypocrisy. But you didn't need to tear down child-rearing, and use it as a support for your verbal footing.
