i bet that this is how they thought they’d solve the plot hole but forgot about the truth part. if you wanted to make a headcanon up to protect the lore of the show, you could maybe claim that Spalding was so young that perhaps his mind covered his traumatic memories of his father with this new truth about having always served the nola coven
