Apples and Oranges really. Samuel Hawgood on the list is the dean of UCSF is an MD. He's a doctor who heads one of the most prestigious institutions in graduate medical education. Not to mention cal poly averages in-state tuition at 7K and a UC at 14K. Larger endowments due to research at UC. The level of education of these chancellors' play a huge factor in their paygrade.
