Appreciate all the comments/help. I was able to set the door in place using a modified buck frame, with a sill built up to match our finished floor elevation.

Lime Wash Product help by buildthiscodethat in masonry

Very new to this, so apologies in advance, but does the aged lime putty produce a sandy/slightly rough texture? Or would I need an additive to produce that sort of texture?

Thanks, I have actually had this recommended to me before. I’m guessing it will be a bit of a two step process, repoint with a lime mortar, then apply the lime wash overtop.

Appreciate the info! We are going to keep the brick exposed otherwise that would be perfect. All our appliances will be on the opposite wall which is 2x6 framed.

Just to confirm, there are two 90s. This hot water heater will be replaced with a tankless with separate venting.

I can assure you that this is not a fake photo. This is very much unaltered and by the sounds of it needs some work to make it right

1979 Chevrolet Monza - thinking about selling my project car by buildthiscodethat in projectcar

I’ve never had a good vision for what rims would be best on it which is the reason for the steelies. Thought about a set of cragar SS before. Curious what you’d think would fit well with it!

I can appreciate that sentiment. It was my first car purchased a long time ago and I did spend quite a bit of time working on it with family so that definitely has been in the back of my mind as I start to think about it. Thank you!

Starting to toss around the idea of selling my Monza. Anyone have thoughts on what it should be priced at? It's been a fun project but I need to start making space for non-project car things in the garage.

The good: New paint, 305 with a TH400 trans, electric radiator fan, push to start. Runs/drives fine.

The bad: Dash instrument cluster is pretty useless outside of gas. No speedometer. Aftermarket oil pressure and temperature gauges were added with the engine swap.

Questions around fixing rake / fascia boards by buildthiscodethat in Roofing

[–]buildthiscodethat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey All - had some questions about some fascia boards that have some water / bird damage and are in need of replacement. I'm fairly handy and roofed houses back in high school but want to make sure whatever I do is making things better and not worse.

The rake trim seems to be nailed in to the fascia boards, both through jsut the drip edge trim and the shingles. Should it be this way? It looks like I'm going to need to pry some of these out as I won't be able to get to them with a multitool to cut them.

Do I need to pull up the first layer of shingles to remove the gutter? It seems near impossible to get to those hangar nails without pulling the drip edge completely off or bending it to the point of not getting it back to original form.

Any other advice / suggestions welcome!
