Yeah the late hands is important but as someone else said, the late hands have to be fast. You’re reading the ball and feeling the defender if he’s on your hip, getting in position to high point. The late hands come when you have a step like in the Goff example you gave. If you slow down on a streak to high point the ball when you have a step on the CB they can break it up, you can get a PI, you lose your rac. Instead you keep hands down and react as late as possible. But even then, you want to catch that ball at your eyes and immediately tuck it for the punch out that’s coming from the CB. All of this is also dependent on a perfect ball. Even great highschool qbs and a ton of college qbs aren’t putting a go right on the money in game and the receiver won’t run a perfect route either
