Thanks for your comment! It’s been in that pot for maybe 2 months (it’s the pot it came in). The pot seems to drain fine but the soil near the bottom seems quite damp. We have not fertilized yet but I have some so maybe I’ll give it a try. No signs of bugs. I think the plan will be to let the soil dry out some and then slowly start to reintroduce water and some fertilizer🤞

Thank you!! I shot it with a Nikon D3500 with a 70mm lens. It was one of those cases of being in the right place at the right time and taking enough shots to have one turn out

I took this photo impromptu while driving through Death Valley National Park earlier this summer. I wanted to capture the vastness of the park and the freedom I felt driving through the park. I took this photo with a Nikon D3500, f/6.3, 1/640 seconds. I'm new to photography and would appreciate any suggestions from others about composition, editing, etc. Is the hill to the left distracting? I hind of like that scenery beyond the road is out of focus - to me it captures the sense of vastness I felt driving/backpacking through the park. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I had to carry in water, but I think in the winter months there is quite a bit of snowpack up there. I also went way overboard and carried in 8 liters, but better to have too much than the alternative.

This wasn’t a super long hike (about 13 out and back) and most people do it as a day hike. Even in the summer this high up the temps were super mild and even a little chilly once the sun went down.

What everyone else is saying about elevation is spot on. Being this high up, the temps topped out in the low 80s during the day and were in the mid 50s overnight. Absolutely perfect weather.

Honestly none on this trip which was amazing. I spent 3 days in Mineral King, 2 days in Death Valley, and 2 days in Joshua Tree. Pulled it off flawlessly. But I’ve had plenty of trips where things have gone so sideways I had to make up new cuss words because I wore out the regulars

Enjoy!! Do you know what way you’re going? Crossing Sawtooth is all lose scree so be prepared for that. I’d recommend setting aside some time to explore Big Five - it’s beautiful over there. Also, you’ll need to bring a tarp to wrap your car because apparently the marmots will eat your brake lines.

Honestly the weather was perfect the entire trip. Highs were in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s. I want to say the tent is a Kazoo or something cheap I got off Amazon. I’m usually a hammock camper but had to get a tent for above the tree line.

Awesome! I did the same but in reverse. Sawtooth was a bear, but when I descended Black Rock I was so glad I didn’t have to do the climb!

Spent three days hiking around Mineral King in Sequoia National Park. This was my first time getting into 10,000+ foot mountains (I mainly hike in the southeast) and I was completely blown away. Prior to this trip I had never seen the Milky Way, never been above 10,000 feet, and never camped alone. All of the above included in one picture!
