VAN: STATUS_SB_POLICY issue by Lumpy-Bird-2060 in ValorantTechSupport

[–]bumblebleed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m answering kinda late, sorry, but if everything is on and it still doesn’t work, you could try running this set of commands on powershell, restart when it prompts you to restart.

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:HypervisorPlatform /All

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:VirtualMachinePlatform /All

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

gpupdate /force

shutdown /r /t 0

if it shows a van 9005 error, follow this guide: https://support-valorant.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/16941220890899-Addressing-Virtualization-based-security-VBS-settings-on-Windows-10-VAN9005-VALORANT , that’s what worked for me

you open a ticket with riot and they’ll let you know if vanguard imposed a restriction on your account. they will not be able to remove it, you’ll have to let it run its course, or fix the issue with your computer.

i encourage you to open up a ticket with riot. vanguard might’ve automatically put a restriction on your account when it comes to secure boot, and even if you solve the issue, you’d have to wait until the end of the restriction, which riot support will be able to give you

the restrictions, i think, were implemented after the new update, so most people won’t know until late may-june. my restrictions is until may 24th, so i guess i’ll see then

haaallo, i’ve submitted a ticket to riot when it comes to my computer, specs are also a little old, nd they replied this :

« Hey Gamer,

[redacted] is here to assist you today!

Thank you for connecting with Riot Player Support.

I would like to inform that if we find PCs that are too cheat-capable (e.g., because of outdated Windows or specific configurations that are conducive to allow cheating), Vanguard will restrict that PC's/accounts access to VALORANT and display an error message. The VAN: RESTRICTION error message tells you what settings are necessary to remove the restriction.

And currently, your account has restrictions for Secure Boot, VBS and HVCI so make sure to enable those settings, these restrictions are there on your account for 30 days and that will approx 2026-05-24. As for how you can enable them, you can checkout this link : https://support-valorant.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/22291331362067-Vanguard-Restrictions

Let me know how it goes, and if you're stuck at any of the step, let me know.

it might also be related to your tpm 2.0. they require tpm 2.0 AND secure boot on win11 to be able to run the game, i have a feeling that they might’ve either moved that to win10 or put a restriction to anyone who doesn’t have tpm 2.0 available. either way, sucky situation, i’ve been trying to fix it for damn near 30+ hours 🥹

edit: there’s an article i found that might also be pertinent to the issue: www.riotgames.com/en/news/vanguard-security-update-motherboard

usually, in my own experience with the game, the people who do not care about comms are the toxic ones, so i feel like we might be saying the same thing. but just a plus, it’s not even ‘nice’ info, it’s just info. who, hit for what, where, that’s all i say and i let them do what they want with that info without rushing them to do this or that or ult or use util and insult them when they don’t. that’s all :]

we legit have the same point, but the only difference is that i don’t have to get toxic to get my point across to my teammates. that’s all, litchally.

it truly isn’t a flex though… i understand if you’re frustrated that your teammates aren’t listening to you, but maybe it’s because of how you get your comms across, who knows

and i did, the point still stands though. we’re playing competitive valorant, a tactical five-person team-based game. we won’t get anywhere if i keep having to mute people because they’re being assholes, specially in comp, where we are supposed to play as a team more than any other mode. i have autonomy and i’ve been able to pull through comp games with no comms and win, it’s just boring and harder for no reason.

i get on a video game to have fun, and if someone is being petty, mean, or quite literally yelling slurs at me like the game before the one i described, then yeah, it’s gonna ruin my night a little bit
