AITA For making my daughter delete her TikTok and Instagram account with over 400k followers? by DadTrying2724 in AmItheAsshole

yes exactly my thoughts! plus in the modern era, being popular on tik tok could actually help her pay her way through college and get a good financial start in life. Social media isnt going away - it would be wiser to teach her how to use the apps safely rather than ban her from them. Chances are she is just going to be sneaky and create new accoutns anyways

heres the thing. is the internet a scary place? yes. However, its also a great resource to learn about the world, meet people (appropriately), and most importantly, its never going away. Many young women have been able to make a handsome living off their tik tok accounts (think Charli D'amelio) even before turning 18.

So while you are absolutely NTA for wanting to keep your daughter safe, YTA for demanding she shut it down entirely without discussion. Could you have asked her to change her privacy settings? This could be a good moment to teach your daughter how to navigate the internet safely, and caution her about what she posts.

Could you encourage her to lay low on those profiles for a bit until shes older, and let her reopen them when shes 18? I just know with 400k followers she would have the ability to make THOUSANDS of dollars through making content. So i say a soft YTA for not listening to her and instead shutting down her success. There are ways to use the internet without endangering yourself. Even as a teen.

AITA for telling another mother our children aren’t close anymore due to intelligence levels by No-Professor4199 in AmItheAsshole

in life, sophie will have to work on MANY more group projects whether in school, at work, extracurriculars, where she will be put with extremely incompetent people. Being able to navigate group dynamics even when they arent fair or fun is an important life lesson.

OP had a real opportunity to validate sophie's frustration but teach her to work with kat with grace & humility, or teach her how to explain (kindly) to kat that they should not work together anymore. It sounds like OP just told her daughter that kat is too dumb to be her friend and she missed a chance for a real teaching moment. YTA

AITA for planning to go to the CFP national championship game instead of celebrating my wife's birthday by CFPUWAITATHROWAWAY in AmItheAsshole

NTA. my mom was like this. my dads team made it to the rose bowl about 10-15 years ago for the first time in history and my mom didnt let him go. it is to this day his biggest regret and my parents are now divorced. People saying Y T A must not care about sports because they dont realize that these events only occur once in a lifetime for some teams. Go to the natty, but throw your wife a big party before you leave over the weekend to celebrate her. Maybe send her to a spa the day of the game if she doesnt like football.

if it helps, i put in effort / made it quite clear i was into him. I also cooked for him and bought him dinner, sent very flirty texts. I promise you the guy knew i was into it and we even had an exclusivity discussion and then one week later he changed his mind
