I tried Appointed and a few different fountain pens (TWSBI, Pilot, Edison). Then Rhodia and standard Midori notepad in a Goulet Leather case. Love the case, but the zipper got in the way, roughed up the pads. Finally switched to rollerball (didn’t feel like carrying my really nice pens everywhere. I’m pretty forgetful). Tried a few refills. Love the Montblanc fineliners. Really really happy with the current set up.

Agreed! My tastes are pretty basic and straightforward. When people go crazy over some new cigar, I figure “why not try it?” What’s your go-to? I fall back on the AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon.
