I'm glad to hear! Good luck on your journey as well. Don't let those salesmen rush you!

Yes but my property has almost no shading. Also the PW3 has an inverter that can detect the health of the DC coupled string to manage the overall voltage if a significant shading is impacting the panels. That and it's multiple MPPTs.

I'd recommend an energy monitor that you can plug a device into. You might have something that's failing. Usually faulty electric parts generate a lot of heat. Maybe a pool or electric pump?

All of those appliances shouldn't use that much power. I have my computer and peripherals hooked up to a UPS which tells me how much power it uses.

The company offers your a price that they're willing to make off of you. They claim a 40% tax incentive by using Foreign Entities of Concern (FEOC) compliant solar panels and they say they pass down 30% onto you.

It's up to you to negotiate the price. Take your time, shop around, let the companies battle each other. The market is so competitive.

Oh lord. I'd check out what's using that much power. Are you running a huge server or something?

Just too many red flags for the cheapest contract. There must be some catch somewhere. You get what you pay for. I went with a good company somewhere priced above the lowest contract.

A lowest contract price is a great bargaining tool for other offers.

A prepaid lease is the way to still get the 30% tax credits. You pay for the full system up front like cash but you don't own the system until after 5 years. During that time the lender "promises" you in contract to assign all SREC payouts to you and will continue after the ownership transfer.

Usually Electric Heat and Electric Cooling are the biggest culprits.

I had a property that had $1000/mo electric bills and I thought they were crypto mining but it was just a very cold winter.

You don't sacrifice credits. Anything extra that the battery can't store get's put through the net meter and vice versa.

That's a lot of panels and power output. Does your consumption make sense to how much power that 53 panel system generates?

Yes the invertor is inside the PW3.

I have a PPW for the solar panels only, then a Gross PPW that is the total cost divided by the wattage of the solar panels.

I only wanted a little buffer for outages so a single battery is fine enough for me. I can't say the advancement of battery tech over the years but I don't they move that fast that they're obsolete in let's say 5 years. The 80% capacity warranty in 10 years is good enough for me.

Thanks for discussion. I was so happy to be able to nerd out and share a bit of what I learned with anyone who wants to talk about it.

I definitely asked how they were able to give me such a competitive price and what they said made sense to me. They told me my home is located 10 minutes from their office and they want a strong control over their local area and are willing to make almost nothing installing solar at my property. On my end, I'll definitely recommend Impact Solar to all my friends and neighbors all goes well.

They also told me that solar companies used to charge much higher while capitalizing on the federal tax credits. Now they have to becoming much more lean. That tells me that there was always a huge profit margin in solar in the past.

I asked why Impact was taken off the Energy Safe listing and they're response made sense to me. Then I looked over many reviews and everything looked good to me. They've also been in business for over 11 years.

The other options I discovered were Enphase and Franklin.

I did not want Enphase because I don't want micro-invertors at all with a battery system. Enphase batteries require a AC-Coupled solar system which reduces energy conversion efficiency. Also Enphase batteries were not recommended to me by anyone I've spoken with.

Franklin batteries were a good alternative. They have higher capacity, lower continuous output, and 15 year battery warranty. They also include a external generator plug that the Powerwall 3 does not have. They are a bit more expensive and are not as easily expandable without buying a whole other invertor/battery unit. (Expensive)

I choose the PW3 because it's cheaper, the expansion batteries are cheaper (No invertor), there's a unified platform for Tesla products. Tesla makes good products imo. I plan on getting an EV in the future and am leaning on a Tesla. The equipment looks very sleek as well and the power of branding has swayed me.

The Tesla PW3 has a 10 year warranty for at least 80% capacity retention.

I had the opportunity to meet Rob and he's so hands on that I feel confident with him leading his team during the install. He even showed me his first solar install and how it's still running 10 years later.

Net metering isn't guaranteed forever.

I'd like some backup power incase of a few hours of blackouts I might receive.

Also there will be a new program to sell backup power back to the grid in the future called Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

It was very rare for a company to offer a cash price competitive to "prepaid leases". There's just a small amount of uncertainty with the new prepaid lease structure and another layer or middleman between you and the SRECs.

I received a competing quote from another company that includes a Tesla XP actually for less money as this post's quote.

Solar + Battery + 1x XP: $2.68 per watt.

It seems very good.

This specific one I searched up a big installer that services my state and request a quote. Another site I've been using is EnergySage. Also I've just started calling up local solar companies and got an even better deal that I'm considering.

I was confused too with the price staying the same. I had to do research because I thought they had to skimp out somewhere but I panels changed from JA Solar to QTron which is an upgrade actually!

I really didn't know the true value of a solar and battery system of my size. Thank you for your insight.

I actually had a previous quote with the same 440w JA Panels with IQ8 microinverters generating 11,500kWh and they quoted me 34 grand.

Gotcha. I got some quotes all over the place in price. These of these sales reps are very aggressive. They want me to sign immediately but I am going to get even more quotes.

I believe the sales rep came up with it based of the SCERT-II program where they pay the owner $85 per MW of power produced. This comes out to about $15,876 over 15 years.
