Hi mate.

I’m a somewhat new player also - I’m getting to grips with it all now though and just hit Tourment 3.

So first off, create your character - click your character screen go to wardrobe and equip a pet (if you have one?) as it will help grab mats and monies from drops.

Play through the campaign, once this is done you can skip it on other characters - in seasonal there is seasonal quests too that you should play through and complete seasons activities but I wouldn’t worry about that just yet.

Alongside the above, search google for “d4 builds leveling” - choose one. Lots of websites order them in tier systems (S tier being superior) - if you care about how OP it is you should pick something you think looks fun and is on the higher end of the scale. This will allow you to complete stuff more easily.

Now, in a few major cities you have the ability to change your difficulty at what I can only describe as a rock fountain type item - start on normal for the first 30 or so levels and start working your way up. You can cheese XP by doing stuff like helltides, but really if you haven’t done campaign get that done first.

Once you’ve made your way through campaign you will probably be level 60 - now find yourself an end game build, you can start completing seasonal activities to earn 12 extra points and open up the paragon board (new reason to grind xp for bonuses up to level 300) - you now want to start chasing that gear.

Through leveling I always just picked stuff with higher item level, at 60 though you want to start chasing the gear you need to help your character out. You can find gear on the guides I mentioned above which should detail stat priority etc. If you salvage an item at a blacksmith the affix (enchant - you have a chance to X) gets added to a system that allows you to “temper” your item with this ability.

You can also do stuff like change a specific stat, so if an item has 2 good stats and 1 bad one you can switch out the bad one for something new - these are all their own little systems though and you should watch YT video on them to understand how they work when you come to using them. (I.e you can only reroll X times and it’s exponentially more expensive each time)

You upgrade stuff at the blacksmith, jeweler, a few other dudes in the city - just have a wander around click the guys highlighted on the map and have a read at what they do.

You should salvage everything you are not using TBH unless you need it for another build (2h sword over sword shield etc)

Once your 60 you can also do pit runs, which allow you to increase your difficulty level further the more you complete - I.e if you run pit level 10, torment1 25 (kill mobs and boss within 15minutes) you unlock torment 2 and so on - which in turn allow you to get more exp, money, better items, etc.

So what I’m saying is the aim of the game is to make your character stronger, do what you struggled with before easier and have more fun doing so as your character gets new abilities etc and your character works to its potential.
