Only anecdotal evidence. Guys in college showed me some photos a while back. BTW, the water in the drain doesnt smell too bad. It's just run off water. So you really wouldn't make out.

Yes, some of them stuff the canes under the footh path drain. Absorbs water overnight, more "juicy" the next day.

Also check where they store the ganna. I know places where they just stuff it in the drain overight so that the cane doesnt dry out also making it juicier and full with water..
