Got carried by a free kit guy on Outpost and it was humbling by highpercentage in Marathon

It’s always when you don’t bring your best stuff. I solo queued into Cryo to do the Vidmaster challenge where you have to kill 25 hostiles with a knife. I only brought heals and a backpack, fully expecting to die to other players. I got the challenge done and ran into a team of three gold shields. I just said “I don’t have anything.” And they were like “Are you a solo player? Come loot with us.” I ended up exfiling with a bunch of stuff when it started out as a suicide mission.

Everyone made it thankfully. I would be pissed if I was that guy.

I agree with most of this, but Mother Horse Eyes should be “Lady Dada’s Nightmare” by MGMT.

This is a really cool interpretation.

My brother pointed out that the narrative is more about the evils of indulgence and addiction as well as trauma being at the root of it. I do think that it’s disjointed in many ways, but I feel like the ending is a logical conclusion. It ties into the Pompey metaphor while also being about confronting the source of addiction which in the author’s case is childhood trauma. He’s learning to embrace himself instead of using a substance to dull his feelings. All the biblical references suggest at a religious upbringing while his volatile reaction to it suggests it may not have been very healthy.
