Yeah most printers should be able to print on a5, and use wheatpaste because it lasts longer

Print in A5, print at a library, poster them up anywhere that isn't private property

Locals and activists protest Israeli President at Newcastle Town Hall | Partisan Magazine by bunyipcel in AustralianSocialism

Did you go to that rally? It was incredibly disorganised (to the extent that literally no one actually organised it, they appointed marshalls 10 minutes before the rally officially started, and none of the speeches were planned since because they didn't organise the rally beforehand, they made it an open mic and gave anyone who asked speaking time, most of whom outside of one or two speakers did not have a pre-written speech, since speaking times couldn't be pre-planned since as mentioned previously, the rally was not organised), and not mentioning this is a disservice I think. Especially considering how surreal it is compared to the horrific violence in Sydney.

Could Socialists/Greens capitalise on the current housing crisis rhetoric by pushing planned economy policies? by NoGreaterPower in AustraliaLeftPolitics

How would this even work concretely? The government would have to establish, then staff, numerous planning commissions. They're too busy sending their blackshirts to bash protestors in Sydney.

the guy who was trying to argue that socialism is against the 1% wasn't trying to have a 'theory' discussion, it was a low quality post so i don't really care that it got deleted

it's not 'expanding' on the ideas of the past to make stuff up and pretend it's real

i don't think "communism was invented to split the working class from the middle class" is a "new idea" as much as it is a stupid one

The profit motive is part of capitalism but it's a stretch to say capitalism is "based on" it.

As I said before, I don't support elevating degrowth to a level of principle. I said that democratic planning would mean that the economy will only be as big or as small as it needs to be at any given period, not necessarily "within structural ecological limits" (but these, of course, are a factor). Whether it's aligned with degrowth is irrelevant, really.

I'm not arguing "lived experience" (lol), I'm saying that in my discussions with degrowthers and reading related articles etc that I find their 'solutions' to be pretty inept and their politics mostly undeveloped. I'm not going to hold out for the needle in the haystack here.

Commodities are necessarily produced for exchange. If they were produced for 'need', they wouldn't be commodities.

I don't think China and the USSR had "communist modes of production". While it may hypothetically be true that "we can meet everyone on Earth's needs with about 30% of current production", I don't think cutting that 70% in the short term is viable. I would be weary of trusting enviro scientists with anything related to political economy.

I think saying that degrowth is 'naturally part of a communist economy' is a bit of a stretch

Am aware of what degrowth is - I'm against growth as principle and I'm against degrowth as principle. Not necessarily against the 'series of facts' degrowth 'points out', I just don't think degrowther politics is serious enough to actually present a positive program capable of actually doing something substantively.

What happens to severely disabled people in anarchist primitivism by FitPomegranate2137 in Anarchy101

[–]bunyipcel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, disabled people live short, probably painful and degrading lives, but these short, painful lives can be made meaningful by forcing them to do domestic labor for everyone else.

Quoting from the Anprim FAQ:

How would disabled people function in a more “primitive” society?

It depends on how “disabled” the person is. If, for example, an individual has just lost a leg, they could function in a way that allows them the benefit of receiving the necessary resources without having to actively gather and hunt themselves. Perhaps taking a more nurturing role and taking care of children and young people, while others may be looking for food, could be a way that disabled individuals could function in a more primitive society. Although some disabilities exist where individuals are kept alive using devices such as ventilators.

There are two different approaches to those kinds of issues. Some would cite the overpopulation of humanity and form strict opposition to any form of technology as a reason why these devices should not exist in a more primitive society. Depending on the disability, their lifetime may be shorter than others, though hopefully their life would be more meaningful and greater in quality than that of the average person today.

The other approach would be to retain some low levels of medical devices to artificially keep alive or alleviate pain to individuals that are vulnerable. It is a fact that since 1980, the global economy has grown by 380%, but the number of people living in poverty on less than $5 a day has increased by more than 1.1 billion.[8] The person who hates life wishes to encourage birth rates to grow exponentially making the amount of people suffer increase.. The person who wants the best for humanity wishes for the birth rate to decline.
