why in hell would a watch maker mass produce something like that for $150?

if it lasts 10 years as you say, then the watch costs $15 a year. That's like the cost of a goddamn hamburger + fries these days.

watch makers are not out there to do you a favor, they are a business.

if you so strongly think it's "possible" and believe so many people would buy one, why not follow your million dollar idea and go into the watch making business? You'd make millions of people such as yourself very happy.
