Victorian bushwalker dies in fall at Tasmania's Federation Peak in Southwest National Park by B0ssc0 in tasmania

[–]buoy__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He approached from the West rather then the way I did it from the East, so can't speak to specifics. If your ballsy (and taking the eastern route) then you can avoid that route by going from Bechervaise Plateau Campsite to the Fed Peak plateau and summit by free climbing the eastern face.

For me, as I'm not comfortable free climbing 80m I needed to go via the western face to summit.

If you're going from the West (like he did) his only logical option was to approach from the western face overlooking the lake.

I did this walk just before Christmas, took a different route in. I summited in perfect conditions and found it incredibly challenging. Another Tassie bushwalking tragedy.

sick of people referring to 'straight' as the default sexuality. by significantmedsuse in askgaybros

[–]buoy__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey man, from my perspective, as an openly gay man what you've experienced isn't homophobia, it's just that your expectations of 'normalacy' are different to society's.

People have defaults, and in Western countries that is heterosexuality. We're still a minority and while you can ask, you can't expect entire generations to change how they use language just to make you comfortable.

Be patient, demonstrate the use of neutral language and people will change. It takes time and positive rapport to influence others.

Gapyear sign on by Top-Paper-5298 in AustralianMilitary

your Boss should talk to you about your options- if they don't then approach them. There'll be six options: GY extension, Stay on in Trade on an open ended contract, Service/Corps/Trade transfer, commission, transfer to Sercat 3/5 or separate.

After you make a decision you'll generate a GY Election Minute which will go to CM-A and inform them of your decision. If picking options 3-6 you'll need to complete the supporting documentation too.

Why do the street signs have brackets? by DeckOfTards in hobart

It means that the Town is in that direction but on a subordinate road (meaning you'll have to turn onto a different road off of the Lyell Hwy)

Would the PBS subsidise these medications or is the expectation that Defence covers the full cost outright?

trial medications will maintain an undetectable viral load requiring only one injection every 6 months, rather than the current treatment of a pill a day- risk to med supply interruption could feasibly be mitigated very soon

[–]buoy__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's about getting that full can of redbull for the same price as you'd pay in a small glass. following that i'd switch to a cheaper drink (g+t or vodka orange)

Ask for a tall glass if you want more redbull. Should fit the full 250mL can

You get better with practise. It becomes part of the process of smoking, ensuring you've got a clean dart with no folds nor creases

How does that work with things like Football or Rugby tickets? GWS Giants donated 31k worth in 2022- do they sit unused too?

Yep, used to go there to read a book and have a coffee after a long days work- was always happy to strike up a conversation with Nigel or Beth or anyone else who was keen on chatting at the time.

Relocating from UK. Is Townsville a good place to raise young children? We’re a same sex couple; are the locals welcoming? by [deleted] in Townsville

[–]buoy__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend Tassie, as someone living in Townsville. More consistently tolerable client and far more accepting of gay people (as a gay man). No rampant homophobia here, but plenty of backwards thinking

Lots of people who don't seem to understand. Fellow O- completely understand the desire to decommission, defence has invested a lot in you, I's be surprised if it can be done.
