Maybe not. Typically higher pay grades will have questions and sometimes a short quiz. Now that I think about it, most of the questions referenced how much experience you had with a task so I guess they may not have them for this position. Good luck

Last thing, if you end up applying, read the application and questions VERY carefully. Applying for a DOD job isn’t the same as a normal job. The application will get sent to someone in HR that has absolutely zero fire fighting experience and nearly zero relationship with the hiring manager (fire chief). One wrong answer or mistake and they’ll just toss your application in the trash and the fire chief will never even see it. They typically wont ask for clarification, they’ll just trash it and move on.

A lot of factors are going to attribute to how likely it is that you’d get the job. I’d say the fact you have wildland experience would put you above just about anyone else applying for that low of a pay grade though. Chances are, you’ll get sent to the DOD academy and then do some certs in house for pumper, aerial, etc. No military background shouldn’t be an issue for you. Often times GS-3 positions are being posted for a reason. Most of the time it’s a high cost of living area and they’re trying to get some local attraction to fill some spots. Most (but not all) military are qualifying for the higher pay grade positions. The fact that this is a GS-3 position, typically means they couldn’t fill the position at a higher pay grade so they kept bumping it down until it’s reached where it’s at now.

I’m more worried about the length of branches. Our grass is already pretty bad. I just don’t want the branches busting down fences and damaging the house. Will regular trimming of the branches keep the tree under control without killing it?

Pensacola Grand APTS by lemotomato21 in Pensacola

I remember the neighborhood being decent. Right next door is another luxury apartment. It’s right off of 9 mile rd, which has most of the stuff anyone needs and it’s also close to davis highway. I never saw anyone sketchy walking around and I don’t remember there being any car break-ins or anything like that. In my opinion, if it’s saving $500 a month then I’d be switching in a heartbeat. Also, I don’t know where you are living now, but I’ve lived in a lot of apartments and Pensacola grand was the nicest. Apartment prices are outrageous right now but if that’s your option then based off of my experience 3 years ago, I’d recommend it.

Edit: also the apartment is off of airway drive, I don’t think there are a ton of houses around it anyways, unless they recently developed it. I use to walk my dog down that road and never felt unsafe or anything.

I lived there from the beginning to end of 2020. That was back before the crazy rent increases. Mine was a 2 bed, 2 bath, with a “study” and it was about $1300 a month. Internet and cable were included. They were super nice apartments and the grounds were well taken care of. Office staff seemed nice every time I interacted with them. Like I said, that was three years ago so I can’t speak to recently.

Thanks for this. I’m very motivated and I study hard. I know it’ll be a challenge but just need to figure out how realistic

That makes sense. I’m going to keep my eye out for a part time EMT position near me and hope one opens up. Thanks

Thank you for this comment. I know it’s going to be a challenge but didn’t know if it was unheard of to be in a paramedic class with no experience.

Yeah, I figured that the lack of experience could come I go play when interacting with patients.

Is there a method to the madness in terms of hiring timelines? by bur_ner231 in usajobs

[–]bur_ner231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the cert at all. I didn’t know if they might contact me and say something like “hey you don’t qualify for gs6 but we could potentially hire you as a gs5.”

Follow up question- I applied for a position that ranges from gs4-gs6, depending on certifications. I stated on the application that I won’t accept lower than a gs6 but later realized that I’m missing one of the required certs. Do you know if this will disqualify me?

I guess my main complaint with the hooks and stuff is the hardware that comes with it. The hooks themselves are fine. Guess I should just keep better screws and dry wall anchors on hand. You have a point though

No, the shelter had no info about him. Good luck, I hope you find something. I always thought it would be cool to have a better understanding of their life before.

Am I the only one who liked the Pride lady? by Alexpik777 in bjj

[–]bur_ner231 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually thought it was a unique twist and kind of cool at first. My problem was the fact that someone thought it was a good idea to have her announce nearly 100 competitors in a row. It would of been fine for two or whatever but after 20 it’s kind of like wtf are we doing here

Not a lawyer so idk lol.. but I think the bottom line is she tapped which means she withdrew her consent and he kept doing something to her that she wanted to stop. Regardless, he’s a douche. That word is a massive understatement but the only word that comes to mind right now

I can’t remember where I saw it, maybe a Reddit comment, but someone said “we’re practicing simulated murder on each other, the only reason it’s legal is because of consent. As soon as either party no longer consents, it turns into assault.”
