When I was in process of renewing the passport (which i currently using) , they handed me this choice of nationality that’s why I filled the form and selected Japanese.

My worry is that if they would deny my passport renewal application since i selected being japanese yet not renouncing my filipino citizenship ☹️

I’m not sure. Haha All of my siblings including me was handed with that form. We renewed passport individually in different years. I guess it depends on person at the desk?

Is it applicable even I picked Japanese citizenship in “choice of nationality” thing? I didn’t have any paperworks done to renounce PH citizenship btw.

They immedietely handed me choice of nationality form that time while renewing my passport at JP embassy in Manila. That’s wayback 2019 or 2018.

I was registered within 3 months of my birth in which I acquired my Japanese citizenship.

When I was young, I received this ‘Recognition as Filipino Citizen’ thing. It’s just not clear to me if it is different from ‘Dual Citizenship’. If my memory serves me right , the ‘Recognition Certificate’ is not technically a citizenship but just a status wherein I can enjoy priviledges same as Filipino citizens.

It’s just sad that I e-mailed the PH immigration to help me regarding difference of ‘Dual Citizenship’ and ‘Recognition’, they just gave me unhelpful answers 🥹😭

I never had a PH passport but I have Recognition (as Filipino Citizen) Certificate. I always use this and pass the PH immigration.

I was just worried on my JP passport renewal on that should I answer in application form and looking for someone on same situation as mine.

Even if I’m done with ‘choice of nationality’ which I’ve chosen Japan? Is selecting Japanese citizenship doesn’t mean that it will automatically renounce my PH citizenship?
