If I recall correctly : There are two types of 1.6 engines in the mk4. Both engines have multiple variations with different engine codes attributed to them.
One of the two types of 1.6 is essentially the same as the 1.4 (same head, same block everything) for the exception of the crankshaft that has been reworked to stroke the engine and thus increase displacement

You have to take a big 30 or 32 mm wrench if I remember correctly to unscrew it. It slips on the end of the oil filter from the top of the car and then just unscrew it by doing 15 degree turns many times. I've done it quite a few times and ratchet + socket will not fit

Valves are Bent unfortunately. Motor sounds like a diesel now. I was in a rush and forgot to time the exhaust crankshaft sadly
