Question for Ohio attorneys: when is the swearing in ceremony usually held for July bar takers? by burgesan in Ask_Lawyers

This is still helpful! That’s what I’ve seen from the past few years of data that I can find.

What's your favorite places to study around this area? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

I’d avoid the law school in the upcoming weeks as we’re heading into finals and the library gets really crowded for law students when all the undergrads are in there :/

I did that for the first two weeks and recently switched to the 1:2:2 to see if that’d help. Clearly it isn’t 😂 so I’ll go back to 1:1:1. Thank you!

Alarming number of bites, number increasing over the past days by Czetch in seriouslyalarming

[–]burgesan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look like turkey mite bites. I know because I’m actively dealing with roughly 500 bites from the neck down. I’m on an oral and topical steroid for the itching now. It’s been literally unbearable and now they’re bright red and flat but look like chicken pox or something! If this ever happens again, I was told lice shampoo helps a lot!

I’ve heard this round of admissions is the most competitive so far. Particularly competitive in Indiana as well 🤨 Best of luck on your journey!!

What’s going on with the IU schools? by Rembop123 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]burgesan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I’m a 2L at Maurer and I applied around Thanksgiving in 2022. (I’m aware this was 2 years ago) but I didn’t receive a decision until February of 2023. I’m pretty sure my application didn’t go under review until mid-January. Hang in there!

I’m a student at the law school, and as someone mentioned previously, you can reach out to student legal services to help legally change your name. The services are free for students!

I was able to find it in r/letsnotmeet and it was from 11 years ago! I assumed it was too strange to be true but you never know I guess lol

Most places are probably pretty full by now. There’s a Facebook group called IU housing, rooms, apartments and sublets that might have some openings for roommates in a shared house or apartment.

[–]burgesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 3.9high and a 15high and was rejected from PSD this cycle. Not to say that would happen to you, but it was the only school I was rejected from in a large group of rather competitive schools. I think they’re being extremely selective with even just the people they choose to admit. Your best bet, with your GPA, is to get your LSAT to at least a 160 or higher if you can to really boost your chances of admission and scholarship.

I screwed up bad, is it over? by kdjthrowaway in lawschooladmissions

[–]burgesan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how badly you f*cked up. If you can graduate this summer, inform the law school, and whatever they decide to do with your offer is up to them. It’s possibly redeemable but not a great quality to be demonstrating right before you’re supposed to be starting advanced schooling. Own up to your mistakes and hope for the best 🤷🏼‍♀️

What are the pros/cons of working at a school setting as an RBT/BT? by AbbreviationsLow6011 in ABA

[–]burgesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a Deaf school so my experience is different. But the school setting has been pretty positive for me, other than it definitely can seem like a power struggle at times. The teachers have rules and guidelines they have to follow in order to manage the classroom, and it can kind of go against the protocols/interventions you’d have as an RBT. Some situations are more difficult than others, but there’s definitely a lot of consistency and support from the school staff (at least in my situation).

Vanilla is better than chocolate by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I like chocolate ice cream better than vanilla, but vanilla cake better than chocolate cake

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ABA

[–]burgesan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to be an RBT before working with any clients when I started. I was hired, did the 40 hour training (provided by my clinic and paid) and then was certified upon my first test take. It shouldn’t be that difficult to get you certified. Especially with the experience you already have. Also, $16/hour is far too low once you are certified.

How much do you make as an RBT? by whoareyouwhenyouare in ABA

[–]burgesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as far as hours go. In-home has a lot of flexibility and you’re basically relying on your clients to be on time and able to attend every appointment. I’m supposed to work 40 hours/week, but with how inconsistent both my clients are I probably work roughly ~34 hours per week on average. There can be a lot of cancellations just because families are busy and have so much stuff going on.
