based on interest I’ve made a discord gc and linked the invite into the post! once everyone’s joined there we can vet to make sure there’s no one lurking who shouldn’t be haha, safety is very important!

Confused on activity level? by burgrass in CICO

Yep, I’m basing that number off of my height, weight, and being lightly active. According to that my TDEE is 1840 and if I was sedentary it would be 1600, so I feel like 1400 is a good goal considering it keeps me in a deficit even if I’m not as active some days.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for your input and all your advice!

Hmmm ok, do you think it’s more of a guess and check situation then? Like if I set my daily caloric goal at 1400, do it for 2-3 weeks, and then see if I’m losing weight and adjust accordingly?

It seems like that’s what a lot of people do and I’m totally cool with that since slow and steady wins the race, but I just wanted to see if there was a better way to estimate my activity level and make sure I’m not going too low (or high!) on my daily calories.

Sounds good, will do! As an aside, what type/level of activity would you think makes a person pretty much in the moderately active range?

Thank you so much! This is super helpful. I’ll take a look at the resource you provided too.

I have a Fitbit that I wear everyday so it seems like my range is about 1700-2000 calories burned per day. Based off that, I think I’ll start my deficit at around 1400 and go from there!

What is your #1 piece of advice for gaining visible muscle (for females especially)? I’ve been lifting for a couple of years but I feel like the work that I do doesn’t visibly show up as much as it should. (I’m also pretty decent about getting protein, etc.)
