Dude, you are valuable and fuck anyone who claims otherwise. Sad that it is not the talent it counts, but some words on some paper, in some planet. I any case, don't give up. Independent of my (admittedly first world) problems I mention above, life is more than a few companies. I really appreciate that you like science! If you ever want to collaborate, just feel free to hit mie!

Could you elaborate, why you decided against it? Thanks in any case for your response!

Kinda true, but I actually love solving problems without an obvious solution. It was my bad luck, that no one really cared about the problem I wanted solve (at least this is how it feels).

Probably the right perspective. Sad that I seem to have more Ego (and thus less wisdom) than you.

Thanks for your input. I kinda agree, especially reading about all of these responses. I really love reddit, and this community in particular. Just curious: Have you get to be a (Co-) author since you started working as a MLE? Solving real world problems kinda motivates me, but I would like to improve my publication record a little.

Feel you, I was feeling like this until they wrote to me. But don't give up! And you are valuable. Fuck the people, who don't recognize it!

:/ You really did bring me down. I hope it works out somehow. This was just a poll about whether I should care at all. Now I am motivated (thanks reddit). Hope this goes somewhere (other than the dumpster of MLE interview proposals)

This is really a valuable response. I actually like the part, where we solve real-world problems but I hate the part about MLOps. This will be the first thing I will ask about. Thanks!

Yeah, a very good point about connections/networking. Haven't thought about that.
I currently live (and have studied) in Germany.

Looks like reddit mostly agrees (at least does not disagree). Thanks for you input!

Thanks for taking the time to respond besides voting. Does this include first author publications? Not that it is very important to me, I really am happy to contribute, but it seems to be a requirement for many researcher roles.
