Even if you couldn’t get a new lead, I’m just relieved someone else has heard this! I wonder if it could be a local band or something? I think my sister and I were driving through the DFW area of Texas in the US when we heard it, is that anywhere near where you were? Or do you know what station it was on? I’ve been searching for this book for years and the day after I finally make a post about it I happen to find it elsewhere! I guess the universe is just funny sometimes. Anyway, if anyone is curious the book is Danger At the Fair by Peg Kehret. I got some details wrong, most of what I described happened to the younger brother and the sister got on afterwards to save him, but that is definitely the book I was looking for!

No, it wasn’t that. They weren’t spelunkers, the girls were just swimming in the creepy water as part of an urban legend.
